I have a friend who has just entered the world of traditional archery. I'm interested in purchasing him some arrows for a birthday gift. His bow is 45lb at his drawlength, which is 27". His bows riser is cut to center and he will be shooting split finger. He has stated that he really doesn't prefer to have alot of arrow sticking out past the riser of his bow. I'm looking for some suggestions on what spined arrows I should purchase for him and what point weight would allow him to shoot a shorter arrow.

Contact Magnus on this site. He makes some wonderful arrows, and his quality is right up there with the best of them. Here is his sponsor link http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=162;t=000042
And if you want carbons, GT 1535 cut to 28 inches with 175 grain point would get him real close without having anymore info to go on.
Cedar, Doug fir or spruce spined 45-50#, cut to one-inch behind point, i.e., 29 inches total to leave an inch for the point taper, and 125 grain points. 50-55# would also work fine.
Here's a second for Magnus' arrows. Nice work and he'll make sure your friend is well taken care of.
bid on some for st.judes and have them made for you. :archer: 5
27" draw means a 28" arrow. this will give broadhead safety. You want 1" sticking out, unless you'll never plan to hunt and only will use field points. Depends if he shoots a recurve, longbow, hybrid. 1535 is a little edgy weak and GT 3555 could be too stiff without a lot of point weight.
Wood arrows 45-50 should be ok, but a lot depends on his release. So I would do the following: get him a voucher for his birthday and order some test arrows from a reputable arrowbuilder. Then he can buy the arrow set accordingly.
