When I first started to bowhunt at the tender age of 14 years old, I used to hunt frogs with my recurve. It was the first animal I took with a recurve.

You won't believe this... it is illegal here in Michigan to hunt frogs with archery gear.  Crazy.  I would hunt frogs with bow if I could.  Just be glad you don't live in Michigan; this state has some crazy, stupid game laws.  It is legal to take them with a spear but not a bow.???

I am sure that it is in my future. I bought the Tradgang video the other day and my son has watched it about 20 times in the last 3 days. All he talks about is shooting frogs and rabbits with his longbow. It would be good practice for a 8 year old. Got to check local game laws. But it is in my future.

Heres a big ol, predatory bull I shot last summer. Besides this mouse in his mouth he had 2 full grown crayfish in his gut. Good thing they dont weigh 50lbs! We have a season in NY that starts June 15th. Lots of fun and good grub. (http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o244/2crazyboys_photos/DSCN1446-3.jpg)

He claims to have rat eating frogs. I think the pic is a hoax   :readit:    :biglaugh:

This looks like a  good time.
thanks for photos.
impressive Frogzilla!
May be overthinking the matter but shooting them in the water  would be great instinctive shooting practice. To prevent escape or long difficult tracking jobs would you suggest bow fishing set ups?  Thought a cheap alternative would be fletching wood dows and using spent bullet casings as blunts.

We walk along the banks or wade the creeks at night, one guy holds the flashlight for the other  to shoot. We always use judos or even condors...shots can be close...10 feet. Unfortunately ,the frogs here never get the size of those Pope and Young specimen above.

Try to find swampy areas that dont have big fish!  Usually farm ponds can be good.

That's a nice mess o' frogs. you guys are dead eyes. I love eating those critters and wish they were as big as house cats here...but there pretty small in these streams....like hitting a fifty cent piece. My boys first "hunt" was froggin' at night at about 7 years old.

I was camping last weekend and the frogs were going nuts but alas, our season goes out on 4/30 and doesn't restart until 6/15.  I know where they are when it's time though.  I was playing golf this weekend and there were scads of big bullfrogs.  Made me hungry  :)
