Title: Would this be an arrow issue to you?
Post by: FrankM on May 20, 2011, 02:10:00 PM
When I bareshaft or broadhead tune, the arrows group with the front end weight from 175 to 300 grains. But, at the lower weights, the arrows kick right as they leave the bow. Would you care? Would you go with the higher weight?

Are you left handed?  If so, it makes sense.  Means they are borderline stiff at the lower point weights.  If you are right handed, I'm not sure.  To answer your question, I would care because if the spine is borderline, form mistakes may cause bad arrow flight and that's not good for hunting.

Heck yeah it would be an issue!

I'd never knowingly shoot anything but the best tuned arrow I can find!  The best tuned equipment, leads to your best, consistant shooting...don't settle for anything less!!

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I'm right-handed.

Well I'd be concerned with what you say they are doing. Sounds to me that you are difinitly stiff. Why don't you give some more info, such as spine, weight of bow at your draw, what kind of arrow, etc and I'm sure you will get an answer.

Are you right or left handed. If you are right handed and the TAIL of the arrow is kicking right as the arrow leaves then with the lower weight heads the shaft is stiff and i would care X2 with Guru

Yeah, probably stiff but they bareshaft fine (but I can only shoot out to about 18 yards in my backyard), hence my confusion. My bow is #50 and they were CX 250's at 31". A bowshop said my bow was 54, but they were wrong. Had it re-tested.

If they bareshaft fine with a heavier head then I think you tuned it correctly... stiffer shaft recovering faster for better penetration sounds nice.

Unless you wanted to use a lighter head then get a weaker shaft.
