Title: first set of matched woodies
Post by: b44mag on May 17, 2011, 05:05:00 PM
im almost done with my first set of matched POC 23/64th shafts 4 coats sunshine orange rit dye and alcohol with 3 coats polywipe over.
they are 31 1/4 bop @70# spine 555 to 557gr.
bare shaft with 160 tips.
just came in from shoting one 3 times at 10 yrds flew great out of the 55# @ 29in. gem longbow.
chopped my first set of 5in. pink shields last night for the hen's waiting on my wild turkey feathers from stringstretcher to show up for the cock feathers. out of 23 shafts i got 2 sets of 6 one at 65# 440gr. raw and on set at 70# 383gr. raw that were right on the money together in spine and weight. but one had bad crack at the knock end so i ended up with 5 of the 70# cant wait to get them wrapped and fletched
thinking on white reflective wraps with white nocks 2 pink 1 turkey should be nice
the rest of the 11 shafts mixed from 60 to 73# and about 25 to 40gr. diff will be fluflu stumpers after i get these 2 sets done.
im hooked on this stuff to say the least
just plain good ol fun  :bigsmyl:
sorry for the long post but im just excited   :archer2:

And now you know the feeling that many others don't. Making your own arrows is fun an satisfying. I like to be able to make my own. That is part of what being a wood arrow shooter is about.

Make sure you post pics for us when they are done. I'm thinking about making up some for the hunting season if I can find time from boat work and such.
