Title: So, You Want To Be A Writer? - Compton Wants You!!
Post by: Whip on May 15, 2011, 02:53:00 PM
The newest issue of "The Walk In The Woods", Compton Traditional Bowhunters quarterly newsletter, is at the printers and hopefully will be in members hands shortly.

Before the newest issue is even in your hands, we are already looking forward to the next one.  The deadline for material submissions for the fall issue is July 15th.

We really would like to make this a member focused magazine.  If you have stories to share please consider submitting them for inclusion in the next issue of the magazine.  Hunting stories, how to's, promoting traditional archery, all would make great topics for the magazine.

Here is your chance to become a bowhunting writer!  Don't worry that you weren't an english major.  Our editorial committee will be happy to help to revise and edit your submission if needed.  All we need from you is your story!

I would like to try sometime. I could maybe write a story about my #1 ranking non-typical mulie in the Compton's record book, or my possible #2 bison. I still need to send my scoresheet in on the bison. I have plenty of other stories also, just need the time to sit down and try to write something up.

Whip,
It is very nice to see things happening with the Comptons magazine ! Thanks for your effort, it defiantly shows !

Shedrock, sounds like you have some good stories there !

Whip, your effort will rub off on us, I am not a writer, nor am I rich, but when I renew my membership I could probably help with a little extra. I think when others see things moving forward they will also want to be part of the action !

Tracy, those would be perfect stories for the magazine.  Those are a couple of amazing animals!  I know what you mean about taking the time.  I have to push myself, but find that once I start I enjoy the process.

What helps a bit for me is to pull up an old thread here on Trad Gang as a rough draft.  A few tweaks and additions, and it's well on the way to being ready to submit.

Dan, no need to be a real writer (or rich) to write for Compton.  There are good people who are more than happy to help with editing to make any story read well.  Go for it!
