Over the years I have turned to the bow more and more to deal with life's stressful moments.
It can also be great PT. Last week I had a total knee replacement. Found time today to shoot a round.
Two key points, talk to your doctor, make sure you have some one to retrieve your arrows.

That's the spirit! :clapper:

It's not just good physical therapy, it's good mental therapy as well. Great way to relieve the stress of everyday living.
-
Jim, I'm with you.. Looking good, physical therapy with a little Zen thrown in :)
-
I know archery relieved my neck pain. Sore fingers are much easier to deal with than the pain in neck.
Jim, did you happen to have an arrow retrieving dog?
-
I would say that is bearing weight on the affected lower extremity while working on balance and performing activities of daily living for improved functional mobility.
-
I like taking my stress out on big whitetails.

Nice action photo. Looks like you live in a beautiful place. Good luck on the recovery!

You'll be doing backflips in no time :)

Just like was said before, it's great mental therapy as well. Very relaxing to focus on an object and block out everything else and then release the arrow. Love it!

Sure wish for you an expedient recovery.
You would think I would be using the most rigid design possible, since mine routinely serves as a crutch. for both mental and stress relief therapy.
Best of luck, my friend.

congrats glad to see you up and enjoying the bow
keep it up

I had a total knee replacement 12/3/2010. I am getting around pretty good now. Have been out and set up a couple of ladder stands. Still working on strengthening the leg back up. Make sure do do your therapy 110% so you get maximum flexibility.
Good luck and hang in there. It does get better.
(I will have to have the other knee replaced in another year or two).

Great picture Jim. Good luck with the knee - that should help tame those hills a bit for you.

I agree. After 20 posterior shoulder dislocations (bad BMX bike accident) and 8 years as a butcher, I had/have severe tendinitis in my neck. Ive been shooting every other day for four months now and the pain is almost all gone. Its great to finally sleep again, my head no longer feels like an anvil sitting on top of my neck, and its all because of traditional bows. I dont think compounds would have the same effect.

I hope you have a speedy recovery. Living in such nice country must be nice. Good pic too, caught that arrow just leaving the string.
-
Great picture, and attitude to match!
Best of luck!

Cool! Glad you're on the road to recovery.
I have found that archery is also good mental therapy.
God bless,Mudd

I work as a counselor with teenagers committed to the state, all with substance abuse/addiction issues. When I get home from work, shooting my longbows and recurves with concentration, helps all the stress from the day melt away! Good for the soul man!

glad to hear the bow is a healing part of others lives too. Don't know what I;d do with out it!.
Kip I am working on getting that photo for you!
