I've got a moose hunt coming up and I would like to use my interceptors, but I've heard some people have had problems with the tip bending when they hit a rib and penetration goes out the window. I don't have any experience with animals this heavily boned and would like hear what the moose hunters here think. So, Interceptors or something different?, and if so what?
My Bow setup is a 58" PCH II, 61lbs @ 28, 540gr Gold Tips with 250gr heads

I have never heard of a problem with the tips bending. My experience is they are exceptionally durable to say the least. You better go to the web site for simmons and take a long look at the trophy gallery.
Go to centaurarchery.com and check out Jim's heads. I think you will be impressed, give him a call and he will describe in detail all about them. I am going to order a half dozen this summer!
i have shot a lot of critters with this head never had a tip bend...shot a moose but went with a narrower head not because of strength with just didn't want that wide of a head..
How much steam are you putting behind it? Those moose are thick skinned, big, and tough. Something narrower "might" be a better choice. Good luck with your choice!
I don't know about the simmons, but I got a complete pass through last year on a cow moose at 30 yards with a RFA 3 Blade for what it's worth. Although those simmions look nice I am going to try the centaurs this year, at least on deer, mabey elk.
Shot a moose with an abowyer brown bear. Penetrated well but stopped on a rib on the far side. The single bevel hit sideways and didn't split the rib.Moose only went six yards and dropped. I think a narrow broadhead is a good choice. The tip never bent either,very durable broadhead.But even a single bevel won't split bone unless it hits vertical.
I think a lot of guys get too ate up with broadhead strength. The Interceptor will do just fine from your bow and arrow combo.
Off the top of my head I can't think of a single "poorly" styled traditional broadhead out there.
Spend your time worrying about how sharp it is and being able to put it where you want it.
If it shaves hair or better....then no problems with your set up.
