At the moment, I have some otter fur silencers from 3 Rivers tied on to my Beowulf.
Also have the calf hair groove silencers from 3 rivers installed too.
My bow is quiet. Buddy of mine has some big round yarn silencers plus the calf hair groove silencers on his Howatt Hunter and that bow is whisper quiet. Quieter than mine.
What do y'all prefer on your bows?
Bow Hush and Hush Puppies of course on all my recurves and longbows! I've made some from craft/fabric store yarn over the years but the wool you get in the one's the girls sell is far superior to anything I can get.
Stinger is dead on about bow hush and hush puppies. Check out the sponsor listings above.
Another vote for the Hush Puppies...all I've used for the last couple of years!

Yarn Puff balls
I haven't tried bow hush yet, but I can vouch for hush puppies. I have a couple strings coming in from Jim at Thunderstick and I am likely to put both on them.
I prefer wool puffs. I usually use the muskox or make my own.
Hush Puppies, Wooly Whispers, Muskox--whatever wool silencers I have on hand when I make a new string. All work well.
I like the beaver fur strips but will use wool puffs if the bow requires more silencing.
Home made yarn puffs. Just slip 4-5 bundles of 2" strips into the string alternating 90 deg, shoot, & trim into balls.
$1.98 buys 10 lifetimes worth of material.
I have home made yarn puffs at the moment. I'm going to use bow hush and hush puppies on my whisperstik when it gets to me. My fingers have been crossed all day that it will be on my porch when I get home.
I tried String Leeches a few years ago when going on a moose hunt where the weather was expected to be very wet. Haven't gone back to any other since then. I use 2 pr
RUBBER WHISKERS
I have been using hush puppies for a few years I really like them. Dad he swears by rubber cat wiskers.
Home made yarn wool puffs.
I went to Hobby Lobby and picked me up a nice ball of Lion Brand Yarn. Their Wood-Ease Thick & Quick. It's a blend of 20% lamb's wool and 80% easy care acrylic.
Just google Lion Brand and you'll get to their website. Once on the website, on the left side of the page, scroll on down to Yarns and click on that. Once on the yarns page, scroll on down to Wool Ease Thick & Quick. Then click on that.
plain old rubber cat whiskers .... and a well tuned bow
I love the ones that Jim at Centaur Archery sells! They work great and have a lot of the natural oils left in the wool. They are surprisely light weight, yet keep their shape.

ive always had great luck with beaver fur silencers.
Home made yarn wool puffs.
Ditto with night wing.
I like the way they work, and I can make 'em any size I want, that works.
Good luck
My wife gave me her mothers old mink hat, I have been cutting strips and using them. Works good for me.
super string leeches
cat whiskers.I've trie several and keep coming back to cat whiskers.
I like the lama wool puffs from 3Rivers.
Wooly Whispers
I vote for the Musk Ox got them on 4 bows nice and quiet.
I like the rubber whiskers because they are cheap and easy to use. I buy spinner bait skirts in bulk.
I use a lot of yarn balls lately because you can make them in seconds by just wrapping 10-20 wraps around your hand, slipping them into the string and cut the ends off to the size you want.
I have found using 100% wool works better. The last longer and shed water better.
Rubber cat whiskers.....very inexpensive, go on easily, lightweight, and most importantly they quiet the bow very well.

If I need silencers, I make my own out of 100% wool yarn. Works great! If I were to have to buy some for some reason, I would go with the Hush Puppies or with the ones Big Jim sells.
I like the beaver fur strips.
It seems to me that this is another thing that everyone has their own opinion and there isn't a "best choice." I think having fur is more traditional, however ;)
Musk Ox !!!
Bill
Use them all but usually wool, homemade.I Like the cat whiskers and have used beaver fur silencers. All seem to be good, but with a HH bow and heavy wooden arrows, the bow string seems quiet anyway.
Make my own outta yarn. Easy and cheap. I do have the hush puppies on one of my bows and I like them as well.
i've tried 'em all and the best by far are terry's hush puppies - ain't nothing more natural, durable and environment proof than new zealand wool ...

I like cat whiskers, makes my bow whisper quiet and they are cheap.
I use cat whiskers on some bows and hushpuppies/bowhush on others. Have made my own from wool yarn too. Would love to find a spool of wool yarn like the hushpuppies are made of......Randy
Ditto Night Wing they work great Deadly quiet
The lightest weight thing I can find, so performance is not affected. Heavy silencers can rob energy from your arrow. I usually end up using pieces of an old bow string.
Hush Puppies for me too.
I Use either Otter or Beaver hair what I have on hand when needed. Both seem to last longer than the stretch of the sting.
Hush Puppies here as well. Very quiet.
