I posted this on another site but thought a few pictures here might catch the eye of a few who haven't see it.
The ASTB is hosting a special tournament this Saturday at Tannehill State Park south of Birmingham to raise money for the Alabama Children's Hospital.
I made an extra special osage selfbow to donate to be auctioned Saturday evening to raise money for the cause.
The bow is osage, 66" NTN, R/H, 48#@28" and tillered for a split finger shooter. The bow has been tillered and shot in at up to 29" draw.
Bud Kent from Mississippi gave me one of the copperhead skins, a big Massey Ferguson tractor tire gave me the other (we were bushogging).
I picked one of the finest osage staves in my collection(a sprout stave) teamed with some really nice osage burl wood to complete the bow.
Here is a shot of the skins while the first coat of finish is drying.

Burl wood tip over lay with an extra groove for a stringer.

I will have the bow at the practice butts late Saturday evening before the free BBQ supper so anyone who is interested can give it a test drive.
Here are the specs.

Here is how the extra groove for stringing works.
I use a long piece of parachute cord with a loop on each end for a simple stringer.
One loop goes in the extra groove.

The other loop goes over the string in the lower string nock. I enlarge this string nock slightly to accommodate both the string and stringer. Simple, non slip and a very safe way to string one of my bows..

absolutely gorgeous Osage and copper head is the greatest combination GREAT JOB
Man that is nice. I have an affinity for osage and it really sets off the copperhead skins. Too bad I'm not in Alabama.
Very nice Eric! If I wasn't already committed I'd drive over just to see that one in person. You do great work (with bows and for the kids).
Eric, Great looking bow. Wish I was close enough to come and try her out. Keep up the good work.
