I hope this is the right place for this sort of post, couldnt find an introductions forum. Anyway I am new to trad archery, purchased a used 50# recurve and quickly found out I was over bowed. I am currently waiting on a 30# samick sage so I can learn proper form and all that good stuff, and hopefully not teach myself bad habits. This forum looks like a great place to learn some, and has some great reading material. I look forward to hanging around.

There is much to learn from these gentlemen, I can assure you. I read Tradgang religiously every day, without exception.
QuoteI am new to trad archery, purchased a used 50# recurve and quickly found out I was over bowed.
That sounds like me. I quickly bought a shiny 50# Bear Montana, thinking I could grow into it. Uh-uh. Didn't happen. I'm gonna drop 10 pounds on my next bow.
So, relax, ask questions before you buy and learn from the Masters at Tradgang.
Have fun.
Welcome, bro!
Welcome!!!
Thank you all for the warm welcome.
I will agree with you about starting with a lighter bow. I did the same thing well almost I started with a 25 pound bow. I wanted to work on form and muscle memory before trying something heaver, some guys than let me use their 34 pound bow. I have to tell you it all about putting in the time at the practice field.
Good Luck
Welcome E. Look in the "Shooter's Forum" if you haven't already. Why don't you chronicle your shooting development here? Get a lot of good help that way.

While we are still human and prone to make mistakes, rest assured that you will encounter valliant efforts to assist you.
As you become more active, fewer layers will be required to keep you comfortable for the fire is warm.
Welcome to the gang!
Welcome to the forum---lots of great information and people here to assist. In addition to what is here, you might want to consider joining a traditional club and taping into the assistance from the members. My club actively recruits new archers and offers unlimited help.

Welcome
I am new as well and have saved some money with tip and tricks.
Welcome, but you realize it's all down hill from here... Pretty soon you will want to know about arrows, then how to make arrows, then how to harvest your own wood for arrows, then how to knap your own points....and on and on...
Then you will want to explore the different bows. You will find yourself buying or trading bows just to see what the wood looks like, or what all the fuss is over this or that style bow.
Split-finger, three-under, instinctive, gap...
It's a slippery slope my friend...buckle up and hang on, it'll be fun.
