Title: Starting a archery club
Post by: snakebit40 on May 06, 2011, 03:44:00 PM
Hey guys, I'm going to start a archery club. I was just wanting some tips on getting started. Where to find cheap 3D targets, best way to start (3D shoots?) ect. I'm open for any and all info. I would love to host a trad shoot in the years to come. Just need to get the ball rolling first though.

I would think that the first two would be property (how much do you have, is it enough and does it need to be fenced) and insurance in case an accident should occur on the club property.

Well I have a whole dried up lake bottom that the city owns, and would allow me to use. I have storage for the targets. I don't have a building yet, that's another thing I'm hoping to get financed through many 3D shoots over the years. I guess to start I would just need 3D targets. Any ideas of where I can find used ones?

I'd talk to some kind of state or national archery association. They'd be able to give you advice on everything from insurance to facilities to hosting competitive shoots.

We just went through this process about 2 years ago. Our range is in De Soto, KS. Give me a call and I would be more than glad to help you. I learned alot in the process of getting the Prairie Traditional Archers started.
