Title: Tall Tines Riser?
Post by: Interseptor on May 03, 2011, 07:49:00 PM
When compared to the Silver Tip, does the Tall Tines T/D recurve have a shorter site window or are they roughly the same in length?

It depends on the riser length, I'd call Brian Wessel and ask him.

Wish I could help, but have only shot a ST once and honestly couldn't tell ya.  I will guess that the TT riser would be thicker and deeper as they are a beefy and massy riser.

You know, I had some pictures of the two laying side by side.  Kentucky TJ had some too.  I looked but am not coming up with them.  What they really show is how very different the two bows are.  I am not sure one person in a thousand when shooting either would be able to tell if there is a diffrence in the sight window.

No tape handy at the moment. However, I just went and looked at mine.  My 16" Tall Tines riser looks to be the same as my 17" Schafer as they both taper into the limb at very close to the same distance above the shelf.  However, they are not cut on the same radius, therefore the Schafer allows a longer narrow sight window for a greater length [ if that makes sence??]

My 19" riser on my 3 pc Silver Ghost [ by Paul] has a considerably longer sight window than either of the previously mentioned ones...

However, since I "cant the bow" when shooting they all work equally well for me.

Do not let appearance's decieve you.. The Tall Tines has a wonderful grip and does not seem thinker or blockier at all.  I love shooting mine and the way it performs.. The Schafer may be a hair faster but its also 56# vrs. 51# on the Tall Tines.

I plan on chasing Mulies this fall with the 58" 51# TT and Grabbing the heavier 60" 56# Schafer come Elk Season.  Both are wonderful bows and you won't be disappointed with either.

Yeah Steve here are mine side by side. Do keep in mind Doug my TT is the older version. It's slightly different from the one you would have. If Steve can dig his picts up they would be a better comparison.

I like the looks of the Schafer more.  Thanks Gene and KTJ.
