Post by: flippnsticks on May 03, 2011, 08:44:00 AM
i have seen  :saywhat:   alot of people are shooting naners. looks like 4 or 5 inch. i love the looks of them. not sure how they preform vs the sheild cut. can you put helical on them?what feather would you pick?

flippn', I don't think there is one vs another! They're all good!  :)

I have shot every shape it seems, but prefer the Gateway mag. cut. High back sheilds, parobolics, 4 fletch, etc. They're all good!

I usually have a couple of different cuts in the quiver. Yes, you can put helical on them!

Get some of both and get out there and shoot!
They're all good!

A back quiver full of both, like a bouquet of flowers! Yes, they're all good

Have fun finding your favorite!

I shoot the bannana on my hunting arrows and sheild on my practice.  They both shoot great and yes I put a helical on both although I shoot 5 1/2 inch feathers with my big snuffers!!  they shoot great!

If you have your arrows tuned,it doesn't really matter.I shoot all kinds of feather styles, just what I have at the time. But do tune my arrows to get the proper dynamic spine I'm looking for.

The nanners are a little more quiet. Mostly because of the feathers supports themselves in the rear a bit better.

They all work.
Just pick what you think looks best.

I agree it's mostly a look thing.  I think the nanners might have a little more drag due to more surface area but that might just be how my choppers are set up.  The one thing I do like about nanners.  The will not touch your face.  I have a deep anchor and if a high back sheild is fletched too far back on the shaft it will touch my nose.  Some folk like that.  It drives me nuts.  If I scoot the sheild fletch forward so that it doesn't hit my nose it will rub the shelf on my LB and make a noise as I start to draw.  Nanners solve both of these problems for me.  And when you paint your arrows bright yellow from point to nock and use three yellow feathers it just seams right to make 'em nanners.

subjective personal preference.  you'll never know 'til you try 'em out.  i've not seen pre-cut banana feathers.  if you get a hi-pro banana li'l chopper you can vary the fletch length and height.

i shoot both cuts - 5.25" burnt shields, and 4.5" hi-pro and 4" lo-pro banana chops.  the shields are for 3-fletch, the bananas are for 4-fletch.

You can buy them but there is more of a selection if you gets LW chopper and buy full lengths. You'll get addicted fast. My chopper has already paid for itself.
