Just mailed off my payment for 2 pc. small Big Jim's quiver today. Cant wait to get it! :jumper:
It's gonna look awesome on my snake skinned BBO I just built.
Anybody here use a 2 pc. with small hood?
Like it, love it, good, bad or otherwise?
What say you.
I'm thinking the small hood will be plenty big for 3 arras with broadheads and 1 squirrel arra.
If anybody thinks I should go with a medium let me know now so I can change my order.
Thanks!
Chris,
I got a medium
and it works great. It's light weight, easy on/off, arrows stay on quiver and no rattling during the shot. You're gonna like it. I use mine on my Palmer and Bob Lee recurve bows.
Good Luck.
I've got a medium.....love it.
I picked up a medium and like it a lot- Im sure you will too
great quiver but I would go with a large or at least a medium. I have been useing the large on a one piece recurve and it is just awesome I love it
The large is fairly small as you can see from the pic

I got one and they are a dandy!
Thanks guys and thanks Joe, I may give Jim a call and change my order to a medium. It's hard to see a pic of something and try to judge it's size in relationship to how it will look on a bow. That pic you posted helps alot, thanks!
The deal is that my BBO is super light and I just don't want to add anymore weight than absolutely necessary. I'll probably change my order to a medium?
I was wondering about those quivers. I like the looks. I have used selway quivers for a while and like them also. I had to buy one so I went with what I knew that i liked. If you don't mind, post what you think of the quiver once you get it and shoot with it a while.
God Bless,
Nathan
I have a medium on order, along with my TC from Big JIm. Looking forward to using both soon. Good luck Semo Hunter good choice.
I will post pics when I get it and I've decided to stick with the small hood since I plan on using mostly 2 blade broadheads with bleeders. My Magnus Stingers are slightly over an inch wide and won't take up much room in the hood, plus I want to cut down on weight as much as possible. At some point I may decide to use a 2 blade with a wider cut, but when I talked to Big Jim on the phone about it he didn't see a problem with having enough room inside the hood with the small one.
I also went back and looked at the video again and it didn't appear like there was a whole lot of size difference between the medium and the small hood? It's hard to tell if you can't actually hold one in your hands and look at it.
I only plan on carrying 3 broadhead tipped shafts anyway with 1 squirrel arrow, so I don't think room inside the hood will be a problem.
Thanks for all the tips and advice, I'll post pics when I get my quiver from Big Jim.
So far, this is the only strap on quiver I like on my recurves and I like it a lot (Medium)! I like it's small size, light weight, the material the straps are made of, and the "knob-posts" the straps fit over. It is very secure on the bow and I'm surprised how easy it is to take on and off. The video on Big Jim's website sold me on the quiver (after some here alerted me to its existence).
I just got mine two weeks ago and used it for the first time Last sat GREAT bow quiver
I have had mine for about 6 months now. It is great! I havent seen a flaw yet. The pros of this quiver would definitly be its ability to quiet down your bow, reduce hand shock, the price for the quality, and the easy of use. These are just my opinions. I just ordered a new R/D longbow and I already know what quiver will be going on it ;-)
That's some great feedback guys. I knew I made the right decision to go with a Big Jim's 2 pc. quiver! Thanks again for all the replies.
It's gonna be like waiting on Christmas to get here until I get that quiver in my hands. :jumper:
I have one coming for my sons Maddog should be here in a week or two.
I have a Big Jim's medium 2pc quiver.
A very nice product!
Just got it today and Wow! It's everything I hoped it would be, very well made, hugs my bow like a glove, doesn't over balance or add too much weight to the overall set up. It's perfect.
One other thing, I've read guys saying that it actually made their bow more quiet. Well, I don't know how that's possible cause this bow was extremely quiet alread but now it's Deadly Quiet.
I think this is the most quiet set up I've ever shot, much less owned.
Here it is on my Bamboo Backed Osage that I made myself w/snake skins. The Big Jim's is a nice compliment to the overall package. I'm so ready to hunt somethin' with this outfit!
BTW- That woodie in there is one of ArtB's specialty "Sourwood" completed arrows and it's a true work of Art (literally) all on it's own.
It has a permanent place in this quiver.

Go medium
It looks real good on your bow. Your bow looks mighty fine BTW, nice work!
squirrel seasons just around the cornner, nice lookin setup.
I have the same quiver I just put on my longbow, makes it balance even better, and a tad quieter, great quiver for the money.
SEMO HUNTER,Thanks for the pics. Very nice looking bow, and I agree that Big Jims quiver really compliments your bow. Good Luck, can hardly wait for mine. Don
Thanks guys, it does seem to balance real good for the natural cant at about 1 o'clock position. It hugs close enough that it doesn't over balance or pull to the right.
Thanks for the bow compliments, that's my first BBO bow and first snake skin job too.
I'm really liking the hybrid R/D design and that was also a first off my home made caul.
I tested it against my Bear Grizzly and it's pushing the same arrow just as fast as the Grizzly does. Not bad I guess for a bow I built in my garage. Hope to take my first trad deer with it this fall.
Pretty good video on that quiver.
What size do you need to hold four Woodsman broadheads?
Frank, you can fit four woodsman in a medium. Maybe in a small, but they would be really tight.
bigjim
Thanks, I will be ordering one in the next few days.
NICE,,,THANKS FOR SHARING,,,
I watched the video and will be ordering one too. I must add that his hands are flippin huge......lol
Will Big Jim's medium 5 arrow fit on a takedown recurve? Also does anyone have pics of the light brown vs. the dark brown? I'm not sure which color to order. Thanks.
Mark, jims quiver will easily fit on a takedown recurve. The real nice thing about Jims strapping system is the straps will wrap right around the fadeouts against the handle. Many won't do this.Check out Big jims slideshow and checkout my 3 piece buffalo bow with the small quiver attatched,2 tone brown.
Even in my small hood I can fit 4 VPA 200 grain 3 blade terminators.
Thanks Steve, now I just have to decide if I want the med. or small.
