I started a thread asking for recomendations, but im also curious as to what everyone would choose if they could only own one hunting bow ever................what would it be?
(Don't panic guys, this is not a real situation.lol)
So let's hear it
65 POUND CENTAUR shoots great and looks great
I have not shot even a fraction of the bows some guys on here have, but I sure do like my psa.
ONE BOW :scared: I don't even want to think of it. :nono:
Only one,it would have to be a zipper.

Thanks Joekeith...my thoughts exactly!!!

A Black Widow PMA recurve with 2 sets of limbs. Black Widow makes great shooting, high performance, consistent, durable bows. They are an operation that has a long history of high quality and a stable, ever-improving business. They have great reputation for tremendous customer service, and will likely be around for many years, to help with issues that may come up in the future. As for the bow choice... You can shoot the PMA off the shelf or with a rest. With its taller sight window, it would accommodate sights if you ever so chose. Of course, you could shoot it instinctively, as so many do. And they look and feel great, too!
I actually have taken to my new BW longbow and hung up my PMA for a while... but the PMA is more versatile, in my opinion.
Just my 2 cents... but there are a lot of other opinions out there...!

I knew there would be some of these, lol, just trying to see everyones favorite
Fin
A Blacktail recurve and I'm lucky. I already own two of them.
I slightly favor my 37# one over my 42# one.
A Howard Hill Redman ......
or
A Howard Hill Redman
My Astro II 58" 48#. It may be old, like me, but still gets the job done.
I love my bow from Lewis Hollow Archery, it has some serious Mojo lol
Thats tough. Theres many great bows out there. I love my Big River long bow by John Mcdonald out of Wisconsin. I have another one on order too!
I have several high end customs to choose from. However, in the event of a fire or something similar :scared: :( , I'd grab my new 56" Kempf Qwyk Styk in one hand and and try to get my Morrison ILF with the "D" LB limbs with the other.
Gene
70" Hill at my weight w/clear glass front & back.
Robertson Peregrine
Simple Type I Bear Takedown
I've already got it, no wait I have it in dupiclate! But, If I was to get another and it would be my only, It would be a widow PCHX 58# to 60# at 28"-56", Those widows are bomb proof! Had a sa back in 1990 and wish I still had her!!!!
A homemade osage selfbow.
I don't own a single production bow.
Any good "Hill" style 66"or 68" and in my draw weight.
God bless,Mudd
I love my DAS riser and I can put any ILF limbs on it that I prefer.
I'm with Mudd on this one. Any 66 or 68 inch "Hill" style bow in my draw weight.
58" Morrison Shawnee Longbow with carbon/foam limbs for me.
60" one pc. Schafer silvertip with a checkered grip.
64" Black Canyon 60# (but i love all the others Too!)
My choice would be a 62" Blacktail TD Elite, 60# @ 28". And luckily, I already have it.
The 64" Griffin that i just got or the Whip affliction that im getting have two Whips that i will never get rid of.

So far I would have to agree...but I have not tried them all yet :D
62@28 Schafer Silvertip
My 62" MOAB. No question.
A Shrew Classic Hunter or any Shrew for that matter.
A Zipper SXT :archer2:
My 66" 67#@28" Robertson Mystykal
I hate to even think about something like this happening to me. I can't seem to get under 5 bows, much less down to one. I would probably keep a 2 piece longbow of a shorter hybrid design. Most likely my 60" Griffin. Take down for transporting, plenty fast enough, quiet and I wouldn't need to carry a stringer or any tools.
My Schafer 3 piece 55@28 gets the vote with no doubts.
My Hoyt Buffalo, 55# at my draw, smooth and easy to shoot.
I would first fall out in the floor and cry like a baby! Then I would choose my Thunderchild.
If I could only choose one it would be very difficult but taking into account all characteristics and situations I would choose my Blacktail Elite
I'd have to go for a sILVERTIP td,that I have , or a one-piece, that i want.(anybody have one???)
It would have to be my PCH II. I thought along those lines when I had it made last year, and I will never part with that bow.
It would be a toss up between my PCHX or PSAX. Probably PSA would be THE one.
45-50 # treadway
One bow would have to be my Great Plains "B" model one piece Rio Bravo.
A Cari-Bow Peregrine
It would either be a Black Widow PMAX or PSAX.
Robertson Peregrine if I could only have one.
I'd have a hard time choosing between my Blacktail Elite TD and my Dale Dye TD. Either would do me fine for the rest of my life. Lots of nice bows I haven't tried yet...
No way I can answer that question, too many good bows out there.
My Habunero! But again, that is currently the only bow in my stable. Not a bad one to have.
As I gather more straw, I will accumulate more bows.
Today, it would be a Bryon Holley Spirit R/D longbow at about 53-54# at my draw length. However, I was shooting my old Red Wing Hunter this afternoon........decisions, decisions.
Bernie Bjorklund
NC Iowa/SW Wisconsin
It would be my Lost Creek Judge bow, best I shot so far.
Gawd, I went into convulsions, now I have to wear this I-love-me jacket and lay in between cold, wet sheets.
Oh my...that looks electrical... :scared:
Widow SA
Well my favorite Longbow is long gone. I would love to have that one back. Sold before moving from S.C. It was a Wilderness LB made by Neil Russell. Best bow I ever shot for me that is, it was natural shooter for me. My Kota Badlands is a very close second. I have never had a Hill but would love to have one. My last name is Hill so it would be a perfect hunting bow and they are made to last. I will go with a Hill.
Cari-Bow "Wolverine", around the 58 to 60lb range.
Martin Hunter
Schafer Silvertip TD.
Fox royal crown longbow, cascade night hawk, wait thats two.......
if my house was on fire and I had only moments to grab only one bow it would be my Mohawk. but if I had a couple of minutes I'd also grab my BW and 21 century.... and of course my wedding pictures.
I am kind of partial to my Brackenbury Legend.
No matter which bow I shoot for awhile I always seem to go back to it.
John
1 piece r/d longbow, can be any one of several makes/models depending on my mood...Mike
BobLee TD LongBow, clear glass 64" 54# @ 32" 3 under, should take care of deer to moose. Now which model and which wood types, I'd have to think on that a month or two! :)
I haven't run across anything yet that my 62" 21st Century, 51@28 couldn't handle. My Howard Hill Cheetah has me thinking about ordering another Hill Longbow though. I would hate to be limited to just one bow. If presented with a grab one and done survival situation, I would , with a downward gaze and shaky hands, grab the 21st Century.
My Howard Hill Redman. A new bow that is quickly becoming an old friend.
If only one, I'd have to go with a 64" Silvertip recurve, no exotics, just super strong dymondwood. Blacktail is a close second.
I would be very dissappointed if everyone chose the same bow. This shows how many great bowyers are out there today.
Das riser with a set of well made limbs and Stewart longbow slammer TD.
Like my Black Widow SAG Recurve. #58 @ 28", 58" AMO.
I have a bunch of bows, but if I had to choose one today, it would be a Tall Tines recurve.
I have a John Maus Kayapo recurve, and a Kirk Lavender td recurve on order....either one could become my favorite.....we'll see.
Tomahawk diamond series woodland hunter 55@28
I have 2 Wesley Specials, 2 Cheetahs, and a Big 5. In a pinch, I could go with any one of those.
As much as I love longbows, especially my Apache, the nod would have to go to my Chek-mate H-2. I simply shoot it better. Didn't say good. I said better.
Ed :archer2:
Now I have only been shooting trad for 3 years now and I have shot quite a few different bows and models. And my favorite is a blackwidow recurve psa! I shot alot before I bought one. And that's what I ended up with. But there is alot of guys one here that have been doing this alot longer than me and shot alot more bows than me

Tomahawk diamond series woodland hunter 55@28 64"
Widow PCH - best bow I have ever shot, and I have shot just about everyting out there.
Thunderstick MOAB !!! :archer2:
Easy, Pronghorn grip fits and because of that I shoot them well. They have been my go to hunitng bow for a long time.
Just got a new one today.
Easy, a 66", straight grip, string follow Wesley Special. I have retired my recurves and could live with this one bow, but I would reserve the right to buy a spare....
A Harrison takedown longbow 60-65#
I have the rest, one bow! Ha ha ha ha
The one I now own BW PHX 58" Olive Ash/Bocote Black/White phen. nor red. 44#@28 and 54#@28
Well, the only one I own I suppose!
If were talking one that I don't own, it would be a Hill Big Five with clear glass, an ebony riser, and ivory tips!
I believe I am forced to live this situation out already due to the budget. So, I "think" (ha) it would be a 60lb Bob Lee, Take Down Recurve.
For the record, I love my bow and don't need another.
Morrison Cheyenne
I always grab my Monarche Royal 64 @ 29 1/2
Bob Lee TD recurve we have been together since 1991 bought her used. She used to be 61 now 52 and down the road who knows. She can out shoot me any day.
7-Lakes "Longnight" longbow.
Tomahawk woodland hunter
David Miller 70 inch Concave/Convex no glass with fiber backing just like Howard Hill shot. 55#'s at 28". Enough for anything in North America. Flint
My 66" A&H... In fact, it is the only bow I own.
I do have several sets of limbs.
As of right now I'd have to go with my Morrison Shawnee Dakota (maybe my one piece Dakota?)...but then again I've got a Centaur and a Big Jim on the way as I type...so, you never know in a couple weeks!
Travis
If I could only have one, then I'd hafta locate the archery black market!
My Bear T/D A riser with #1 limbs.
My Bear's Paw 58" longbow, that being said it would be hard to get rid of the short recurve too.............
My Holm-Made Osprey is my favorite bow. I shoot it better than my other bows which are a Thompson Zipper with two sets of limbs, a Excel/TT recurve, two Super Diablos, Robertson Mystical longbow and a T. Daly flatbow.....DaveP
Right now I would have to say my Super Shrew but if I had only one bow I would like it to be a takedown longbow. (I have a GN Bushbow with the jacknife feature on order) :archer2:
The heavier of my two Bighorn T/D Recurves. Don't shoot it alot but shoot it very well when I do......
Randy
I would go with one of my Morrison's and if that was not allowed a Pronghorn
Other than my own... I would hands down go with a Big River longbow by John McDonald.
No doubt it would be a ZIPPER, but which one would be a harder decision. :deadhorse:
The flavor of the day would be my new Super Wildcat from Brandon Stahl. A Bear T/D with Rose Oak limbs would be a close second.
Wait, this poll ain't fair.
I think it should be a recurve with a backup and a longbow with a backup. Now, if I could only choose four.
I could be happy with the Pronghorn t/d I'm currently shooting. That said, variety is the spice of life! :D
It would be a heave R&D long bow 58" the way they shoot is amazing like the Dwyer Endeavor or Shrew.
Easy choice for me...my Predator recurve.
Been playing with a couple longbows for about a year now, and really enjoy them too, but you did say ONE bow only.
There is a very short list of things I own, that I can count on like my Predator recurve.
A saluki scythian 52-55 #'s at my draw.
Hi All,
In 1972 I bought a Bear Kodiak Magnum, 50# @ 28", and shot that almost exclusively until just a few years ago when it got damage in a moving van. If not for the damage, I'd still be shooting it. :D
58" Centaur triple carbon, in fact I'm working my way back down to being a one bow man, got two more to sell and that will be the only bow I own.
From a practical standpoint, a Toelke Lynx with a set of recurve and long bow limbs, actually 2 bows(I like to cheat). If forced to one, I would probably choose to keep one of my Toelke Super D Hill style long bows.
Mahaska Flatbow married with surewood arrows
56" Bighorn Custom. 48# @ 26"
I have 56", 58" and 60" limbs
This thread is another reminder that if I want to be the best shot I can be then I really should go down to just one and quit shooting a bunch of different bows.
I'll get back to you on this.
This is like a bad dream..... One bow, it would have to be a 62" RER Arroyo #52
Have owned, shot, and taken game with many fine bows but would have to go "old school" with the Green Mountain forward handle Stingray
If I could only have one longbow it would be a toss up between a 56" Beeler Tracker and a 62" Beeler Trailblazer longbow. If I could only have one recurve it would be a Marriah Thermal T/D. All the bows that have been mentioned are great bows made by very talented bowyers.
No Question, If it could only be one, it would be and Centaur Triple Carbon!!!
The Robertson Vision Falcon 4, 58 amo, 48# which I foolishly sold... Wish I could get that one back... Live and learn...
Leon Stewart Slammer! Pa. Yew on Back, Osage on Belly and Bamboo in the middle, 62in. and 45#... WAIT That's my bow! I'm a lucky guy!!
55 pound tomahawk diamond series woodland hunter
I've pretty much got all of the bows I'll ever need. Recurves, I've got a pair of Kwyk Styks, and a Widow PSA... Longbows, I've got my Shawnees and MOABs...
If I had to choose one I'd grab one of my Shawnees. They are both A riser with 1/2 pinecones and E carbon foam limbs with copperheads on the back. One is 60# and the other is 64#, and shoot identically for me.
Don't get me wrong, I love every bow I own and probably wouldn't part with any of them... Unless I could find a low 70# Kwyk Styk then I'd probably get rid of my 70# Widow. But, the Widow is in the bow rack for sentimental reasons. I had a SA III that I shot for several years when I made the switch from wheels...
With out a doubt it would be my 56#@28" Blacktail Elite with a quiver full of Surewood shafts 80#-85# tipped with some 150gr heads--Red Feather Archery's Phoenix heads! This set up will be going to hunt elk in Utah this year!
My 48# Blacktail Elite T/D The greatest bow I will ever own.
my 64'' plx with the lag style grip 50@32 will be hard to beat decades from now. I shoot everything I can get my hands on but there's something about my widow that makes it my honey mama. Oh and it kills stuff very well.
I don't remember if I posted on here yet, and if I did it's probably different, but I keep coming back to my Lost Creeks. Simply cannot miss with this bow. Really want to get another one.
IMPOSSIBLE!! You can't have just one! ;) :) :D

Could not agree more Bill!!!
I know I have at least two more that are a "must try" for me before I could even begin to think about just one.
God bless,Mudd
another Kwik Styk, 56"-57#@28
quiet, accurate, smooth, bullet proof
maybe it's just me but i thought it was a proven scientific fact that if you could only own one bow it had to be an A&H ACS CX 58" 48# longbow.
Bill
I have more than one, because there can't be just one.
My shrew has the edge.
NEVER,NEVER,NEVER,JUST ONE.
Great Thread! A lot of bows listed here that I really didnt care for at all: Schafer, BW, RER, Just goes to show-different strokes for different folks!
Any Silvertip made by Paul.
Any Howard Hill type longbow, straight limbed, straight grip, 69-70" long, 45 pounds.
