Anybody had experience with these guys? Their prices are very good. Thinking about ordering from them.
From what I've heard, you'd best stick with a tried and true vendor such as those that can be found on this forum.
I've used them several times in the past and had no problems...prices were good just one man's opinion.
Try Mike at The Nocking Point. Good guy with great service and good prices.
I had bad dealings with these guys. Poor communication, and took months to get what I ordered.
Nocking Point gets my "tip of the hat"
Used them many years ago, had no problems.
I wont say they are bad, they have been around for ever.I will say this, you wont get any pro's in the Traditonal archery world from them. The sponsors her deal only in trad,so they are pro's in the trad world of archery. You wont get bad advice and the wrong equipment from guys on here.Thats worth something to me.I suport the sponsors here ,i know because i am one.If we dont,we wont have any.
I have dealt with them a few times with no problems.

Used FS Discount for many years ... never any issues
have ordered a lot from them over the years & never a problem.
I've ordered from them several times in the past. They always had quick turnaround and mechandise as described. I guess you would say I am a happy customer.

Ordered stuff from them in the past, took forever to recieve my merchandise.Nockingpoint gets my business now,Quick and Mike is a great guy to deal with.He gives great tips and helps you out on what you need...................
I've used FS Discount arrows from time to time. I've never had a problem with any of my orders from them.
As for using sponsors on here, that's fine with me too since I've bought from Braveheart Archery many times. But, sometimes that's not feasible. As an example, "no" sponsor here on Trad Gang carries the Eclipse X7 2212 full length aluminum shafts and 2212 RPS inserts, which I build into arrows, so that forces me to get them from Bowhunters Superstore in Wellsville, Pennsylvania. This company has been supplying me my hard to find aluminum shaft sizes not normally used by bowhunters, for the last 30 or more years. The reason I shoot a 2212 is because Easton discontinued the 2113 shaft size I had used for many years so that forced me to adapt and I was lucky to find the 2212 size was a very good replacement.
In essence, when I buy my trad archery stuff, I spread the wealth around depending on who has what when I need or want it.
Nocking Point for me for many years.Picking up stuff from Mike tomorrow at a shoot in Okla
Did once, didnt get what I ordered, turned into a bit of a mess that took a while to sort out.
I bought quite a bit of stuff from them back in the 70's and 80's. Never had a problem.

I can vouch for that - always a pleasure getting a new box from Mike
They have been around for along time, and I have order from them, no problem. And Night Wing is right, not all of the sponsors on here carry what you need. :saywhat:
I use to order from them quite a bit and never had a problem. I have found other sources out of state with about the same prices so I don't have to pay taxes along with the shipping.

Yes, been to there store, never any problems....
Mike at the nocking point is the man. ships daily.
fs discount very slow shipping.
Darren
Ordered from them a good bit, no problems and quick turnaround....and the prices are hard to beat.
Sounds like a crap shoot.
I too will vouch for nocking point.
Another vote for the Nocking Point.Mike and Bren are the best
Not knocking on the endorsing of a forum sponsor but Jesse_83 clearly asked for feedback on FS Discount Archery.
Thanks all! I guess if I order anything I'll do it by phone and make sure it's in stock before I pay.
I live close enough to FS to drive down there to get what I need.
I have never had any difficulties with them but that could easily be due to the way I can interact with them, I've certainly heard of more than a few bad experiences.
For about the past year or two their showroom (they aren't a retail store) has gradually been taken over by softball and baseball equipment as they grow another business. These days there is precious little archery equipment visible.
The last couple times I've called to make an order they haven't had the Trueflight full length feathers I was looking for. On one call the guy said they haven't made an order from Trueflight in quite awhile. In answer to my next question he didn't know when they would be ordering from Trueflight.
While they say they are not closing the archery business I have to look at the evidence and think that at the very least they are shrinking it drastically.
I think Jesse_83 has the right idea, verify stock before paying (and then keep your fingers crossed).
Guy
I have had good service from them.
Ordered a lot in the 80's with good service but the last two orders with them recently were terrible, had to cancel both. One item out of stock so they held the rest of my order for 3 weeks without any notice from them.
I did have one very unusual situation with them back in the 80's: I ordered a bow from them COD and after about 3 weeks I got an invoice from them demanding shipping cost because I gave them the wrong address. I asked the lady in customer service how she got the right address for the invoice. Her reply was: ...............DUH
That's funny. lol
They back tracked it on a previous order?
I've ordered from them in the past with no problem. It's been many years and I can't speak for them recently. What I will do is put in a plug for Big Mike in the sponsor's section. His prices are hard to beat. My order was shipped immediately and even received a phone call about a couple items that were backordered.

Same here!
I used to buy a lot of stuff from FS and other discount houses without problems. Now I'll spend a few dollars more and use the sponsors here. It's worth the price of a cup of coffee to me to support the folks that support this site.
Mike
They suck! I had to file a complaint with paypal to get my money back for some arrow shafts that they let me purchase and pay for that they didn't even have anymore, then took forever to refund my money only after the complaint went through. They didn't even have the common courtesy to send me an email saying that those shafts were out of stock and discontinued. Never again.
Do yourself a favor and order from Trad Gang sponsors, you'll thank yourself for it later.
Of course this is only my opinion based on personal experience.
these guys are still in business???? Used to use them many years ago, wasn't happy with them back then!!
Used FS for many years, never a problem.
I guess what you could conclude from this exchange is they are inconsistent in their operation.
Well I've lucked out and found a POC source in BC. Just need a couple of one time things like a jojan multi. I was looking through my dads old trad stuff and opened a box a found a young feather burner! plugged it in and it works. Might have to try it out on the next batch.
Holy cow, if I'd known you were looking for POC I'd have strongly recommended against FS!
Some friends got four dozen "weight matched" POC shafts from them and my digital scale showed them to vary by over 100 grains in each dozen.
On a recent trip to their office to get some feathers I overheard a phone conversation with a customer who was apparently complaining about a wide weight range in his "matched" wood shafts.
Get pre-packaged stuff that someone else has made but for Pete's sake, don't get wood shafts from FS!
Guy
Guy:
I agree with you on the POC and wood arrows. I have gotten good deals on them for aluminum shafts and basics like nocks nad fletching adhesives but go to one of the sponsors for the other stuff. I have sen a numbe of my students come back with arrows(wood, aluminum and carbon) that were a disaster.
Ron
After many years and many vendors, Mike at the Nocking Point gets all my business. He has just about everything you would want and his prices are great!
DB
Its the Nocking point for me,great service and a great guy!
FS is moving more toward baseball equipment and less Archery. If you live in the area and can place a quick call for stocked items it can be convenient. Have had similar issues as stated above on Cedar shafting. Get them home to spine and weight and find not what I expected or paid for.
I've dealt with FS Discount Archery a few times & never had an issue with any of my orders although I try to order stuff from supporters of Trad Gang I too sometimes find hard to find items elsewhere.
the neighbor kid ordered a Greatree bow from them because they had the cheapest price. poor kid, they told him it would ship right away. they never did answer any emails, he had to call and every time they would tell him it would ship next week. it took 3 months, but he finally got it. by then we had already called around trying to get it somewhere else and found out there were none in the country, but he never got any information other than "ship next week" from FS
I ordered 2 strings from them. One string came in right the first time. Three attempts later on the second string and I just gave up. This was over the course of several months. Then out of the blue 6-7 months later another string comes in the mail. Still not the correct one. Lesson learned!
Did business with them. Won't ever again.
I've ordered stuff from FS for years and I've never had a problem and they've been pretty competitive on pricing. (I'm just sayin'... They're $2 cheaper than everybody on Gold Tip Trad hunter shafts.) But now that I've gotten rid of my training wheels (and cams) I've found they seem less and less willing to offer the kind of trad stuff and services that I want. Wait, a minute, maybe I said that wrong. I seem to be wanting stuff they don't like to bother with. I feel like I'm trying to order a rye bun on my Big Mac, you know?
So I am naturally drifting away from them.
Shipping is a big issue for me because I live a gazillion miles from the nearest archery shop, so I have to shop on-line. Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear has a great flat-rate shipping policy, for example, and I appreciate that a lot. And some big box on-line retailers may have lower prices, but you have to calculate in that shipping charge because if you always go with the lowest price, and you have to go to multiple sources to get the lowest price, the shipping will vaporize that price advantage.
If it's close I'll always give the business to a trad-only shop, but if it's significantly different I go with the lower price.
If I had a local shop, I'd try to shop there, even if significantly higher, but there's a limit to that. (It's called my lovely wife.)
I've dealt with F/S many times and never had any problems. Don't know if they have a staff thats trad wise or not. I know what I want, thats what I order and thats what they deliver. Frank
I have dealt with F/S for many years.....never had a problem with service from them.....
