Anyone familiar with the Martin Mamba, would like to here any pro's and con's ect. Thanks
I can only give it "pro's" since my encounters with the Mamba has only been positive. It's a short bow of 58" but long on performance, giving exceptional cast for shooters with relatively short draw lengths. It is basically the same as Howatt's earlier Hi-Speed and the Hunter's little brother.
As for as historical significance, it was a Mamba that was used to light the Olympic torch in Spain in 1992.
Another is that my good friend Logan Fontenelle from South Dakota used a 60# Mamba to capture the state bowfishing record by hauling in a 42# carp in 2008.

Looks like a another great Hatfeild design, with the touch of Mr Jewitt. Is there a down side to the 60s era bows. :dunno: made to last. Thanks for pics Lon.
Howatt also made a Mamba bow long before Martin bought them. I had a shop and Dale Marcy(of Howatt Archery)traded a customer of mine a Howatt Warthog for his Mamba. Dale wanted it for his collection. He was sure he had made that particular bow. JIM
I had a Mamba for a number of years. I thought it was the perfect fit of grip and length. It just felt right in the hand.
The Mamba is a great production made bow. Fast bow too. But, if you've got a 30" draw length or longer, I wouldn't recommend it. I shot a 58", 45# @ 28" Mamba for about 15 minutes and with my 30" draw length, I noticed "finger pinch".
15 years ago, when I got started into trad. archery. The Mamba was my first bow ( a loaner from a friend). It is a GREAT production bow. I ended up buying my own later that year a Super Diablo. Not as nice as the Mamba.

Mamba's are flat out shooters. I have had a few of them come and go over the years, from 60# to 35# and they all were performers. The black/gray model was my favorite.
Good Shooting,
Craig
I have seen some of the older ones that are really pretty too. I've always wondered how well they shoot.

I got a new to me Mamba on the way myself, found it on Craigslist for $200 with 2 quivers chock full of arrows. I cant't wait to get it, I hope it'll fit me ok I draw about 28.5 in. All my research on the Mamba turned up positve evidence, and I then started looking for one.
nice carp lon - good bows. :archer: 5
Mambas are nice , good shooting bows and work well out to a 29 inch draw.
