Title: how to choose arrow weight feathers, spine
Post by: bowisbest on April 25, 2011, 09:32:00 PM
Hi All,
New member here and also new recurve owner.  Wanted to ask everyones suggestions on how to best choose a carbon arrow spine weight....I am looking at the CX Heritage.  Need specs on how to also choose head weight, i would like my finished arrow weight to be 600+grains.  I am shooting a Black Widow 58", 52 lbs @ 27 inches recurve, shooting off the shelf.  Is there a formula for optimum head weight for best arrow flight?  Any suggestions would be appreciated to help guide me through the process of choosing an arrow and how to tune for optimum flight.  Thanks everyone!

Just for comparisons sake, I shoot a 62" recurve 51#@28" and after bareshaft tuning ended up with 350gr up front of a  29" 55/75 Gold tip, which is real close to a CX 250, for a total arrow weight of 650gr. I also used Stus calculator to get close before I bareshaft tuned. Alot of trial and error is also to be expected.
