Well, after four years of frustration, I finally bagged a turkey.

For anyone wondering whether two blade broadheads work on turkeys, here a a couple shots of the damage inflicted by a Zwickey Delta.

The shot was a little lower than I would have liked, but the results were devastating. It severed the leg joint at the knee, sliced the breastbone in half, and sliced the liver. He flopped over the bank I was set up in front of. I gave him 30 minutes and found him face down a few yards behind my blind...quite dead.
I washed the blood off of the Delta and it's still razor sharp...sharp enough to pass the rubber band test. I'm done experimenting with other broadheads. From now on there will be a Zwickey Delta on the business end of my arrows.
 Congrats!
:clapper: Congrats! That is one beautiful bird!

Congrats,nice pics.
I didn't have a scale, so I don't know what he weighed...felt like about 80 pounds after carrying him and the blind 1/4 mile across a muddy, tilled-up bean field :biglaugh:
He had a 10 1/4" beard and 1 1/2" and 1 1/8" spurs.
I set up my blind at about 5:30 a.m. and shot him at 2:00 p.m. Kind of a long sit, but there were birds in the field almost all day. My cousin was set up across the field and counted 8 strutting toms and about 20 hens at one point. Too many hens made it tough to decoy them. This tom actually followed a live hen that came through my set. When he got to my jake decoy, he stopped and started to puff up. At about that time Mr. Zwickey arrived! He stopped right in front of my blind at about 5 yards first, but I had to wait for him to move to the jake rather than risking spooking him by moving to draw.
It will get your heart rate up, I can tell you that!
Awesome! Congratulations! :clapper:
Congrats on the Thunder Chicken!

Great post! Gives me hope...Im in my second year huntin turkeys with the tradbow and have only had hens come close enough. It's only a matter of time. I hope to post my first one soon.
Congrats on the bird!
What bow were you using?
Josh
Outstanding! Just the motivation I need as I going back tomorrow to see if I can get it done.
Congrats!! Might have to try the Zwickey Delta myself.
Congrats! :clapper: That is an awesome accomplishment!
Josh, I was using my Orion with the recurve limbs. It's a pretty slick little bow in a pop-up blind.
Ben A, the Deltas are great heads, easy to sharpen, hold a great edge, penetrate incredibly well, and do devastating damage. They also fly like field points, which is amazing considering their size. They are also affordable.
I've tried Woodsman, Snuffers, Grizzlies, etc. They are all good, but I keep coming back to Deltas. I don't see any need to change again. I may use the others for rabbits and squirrels, but for big game, it will be big old Deltas for me.
For those of you still looking for the first turkey, hang in there. It IS worth the wait. I have to say, even though turkeys are frustrating and I made my share of mistakes, I really enjoyed the experience. I've learned TONS. Turkeys still do what you least expect, but with experience you learn what doesn't work.
Good luck!
Congratulations, They are so much fun,but can be da$n frusterating to.I've missed 2 so far this spring as a result of not concentrating, but got some excellent video. You did a fine job sir,and again congrats
congrats!!!
Congrats,nice bird.
Way to go Russ! Great bird!
I'm not sure I will have an extra minute to chase a turkey this Spring!
