Title: point glue
Post by: bowmaster12 on April 22, 2011, 08:20:00 PM
what glue do you guys use when bare shaft tuning so you can remove the point to shorten shaft without to much hassel and still not lose the point in the target?

This is for carbons. If the shaft is not tapered and you know what you want for a point weight and arrow weight, you can cut from the nock end of the shaft.

Other wise what Jason said.

For me I don't use any glue to hold in my inserts in carbons for tuning.I like to use the saran wrap method.I'll push in the insert with alittle saran wrap.It will hold the insert in tight enough for shooting and tuning. You will need a softer target like a bag target. So it doesn't grab the arrow too tight on removal.I'll shoot through a shallow box,the box holds the arrows position and the bag target doesn't grab tight enough to pull insert out.I get my tuning done quick and easy and didn't put any heat on my carbon shaft.Been doing it this way for a few years now, works great for me.

Ooo that's a good tip JRY309! I was wondering how I was going to tune my arrows without constantly glueing/unglueing them  :)

For carbons I use Saran Wrap like others shot into homemade bag targets.

I've always used Saran Wrap and a bag target.  Recently a guy told me he uses 4 or 6 pound mono fishing line.

Sounds like it would work better.
