Title: 2 fingers
Post by: cbCrow on April 20, 2011, 04:18:00 PM
A friend stopped by today to fling some arrows and showed me his new tab. It was a Bateman 2 finger split and his release was wow. Since starting back to trad he has had alot of problems in this dept, but no more. I tried it and was amazed to find the improvement of my release. As a matter of fact it seemed almost easy to get a good release and it felt natural with no finger strain. Has anyone else tried this style(Flemish) and did you have the same results? I do believe I will be calling Bateman real soon.

I have tried 3 under, however I had pain in the bottom finger.  I too will be contacting Bateman.  Thank you for the information.

I shoot Flemish a lot with a glove, and also without a glove(bare fingers). If for some reason I'm having grouping problems split finger, I switch to 2 finger split draw and things tighten right up.

Shot this entire past season Flemish. Just seems natural to use this method but I switch back and forth, since I've been shooting 3 finger split for 50 years. Both styles work for me!

It's that third finger that often causes the string to be torqed or displaced from a single line.  Using just the two split fingers reduces the influence on the string and cleans up the release.  I've temporarily used two fingers also when I seemed to have trouble with arrow flight or grouping.

I´ve tried 2 fingers under and it was really a better release. BUT with 58# on two fingers it hurts after a couple of shots.

CbCrow, here's a related, recent thread discussing 2 fingers:

I've been shooting 2 fingers under from pretty much the beginning. I tried 3 finger split and it never felt natural, switched to 2 fingers under and got instant results. Been shootin that way ever since.

This is some interesting stuff.  Never tried two finger (split or under) but will try it tomorrow.  Currently shooting 3 under, but feel my release is less than consistent.

Two finger split for me. Tried it a couple years ago and won't shoot any other way! Really feels a lot smoother on the release. Thought I was the only one shooting that way. Glad I'm not the only one!

Two fingers split for two years now and no intention of every switching.  It is a lot cleaner method for a clean release for me.
