I wanting to order a Hybrid longbow.Don't know if i want the big jim thunder child or Dwyer Endeavor.Which would be your choice.
Big Jim Thunder Child would be my choice.
dwyer, fantastic bows, and great people that back their product up 110%
Can'tgo wrong. Both fine bows. Aneewakee Archery has a sweet short hybrid longbow also.
Big Jim
black creek banshee
Add a Leon Stewart slammer to that equation...awesome bows, amazing performance!
Of those two, the Big Jim. My choice though, Lost Creek NAT!!!
Buy them both! Lol
So many great hybrid bows to choose from...good luck with YOUR decision!
What you like may not be what you expect, I've burned through some very sought after bows.. one of my favs is one not so sought after that I traded for.
There are still a couple on my list though, one being the Slammer, I like the hybreds.
Dwyer
Dwyer Endeavor =) love mine.
Boy oh boy...
What is your draw length?
The endeavor can only be had in 58"
The thunder child is made in 54",56",58".
A call or email to the bowyers to ask them about their bows and your draw length might help you make the decision.
Personally I've found I like longer bows..but that is just me.
I sorta think I might like the thunder child grip more just from looking at pics but who knows.
Can't really tell till you hold and shoot one.
If you can't get to an event that both bowyers are at you could drive to big jim's on a weekend if he's ok with that. Only 9hrs.
Thiers alot of superb shorter hybrids!
I dont think you are gonna do any better than a Thunderchild.I think its one of the most unique designs available in a short hybrid.
I am sure the Dwyer is excellant. But have not shot the Endeavor personally. So cant comment.I have had 2 of their other models and they were very nice.
Moab Thunderstick
Both are great bows. But my choice would be the Big Jim Thunderchild ( I have mine on order ). A Dwyer Endeavor is on my bucket list, as are many others. Good Luck
Never had the pleasure of shooting a Dwyer, so I can't comment from actual experience. I do have personal experience with the Thunderchild. My Thunderchild is an outstanding bow with attention to detail that astounds me everytime I pick it up. Big Jim is the kind of man that does the right thing even if nobody's looking.
Another vote for Leons bows......but I would try to shoot some of the shorter bows before you order one short. I shoot a 62 to 66 inch hybred much better than the shortys.
Leon Stewart SLAMMER
The Dwyer Endeavor, Big Jim Thunder Child, Lost Creek Judge and Kanati all look VERY similar. I don't know how they all shoot, but look wise I think they all have a similar profile.
Which to choose?
I lean toward Big Jim over the Endeavor because of the takedown system Big Jim uses. That is if you are wanting a takedown version. Otherwise I think it is a toss-up.
If it were me I'd choose Big Jim's Thunder Child. I don't know why you would care what I like though. You need to try them for yourself. We each have different likes. Good luck on YOUR choice.
Well thanks guys looks like i need to try get to a shoot or 2.hopefully someone will have 1 for me to try.I'm looking to order a 58lb @ my 28" draw.Going to be a hard decision. So many nice bows out there.
With out a doubt....Dwyer!!!!
I'm leaning more to the Dwyer if it's anything like my Dwyer Defiant its supurb.fast no hand shock and quiet.
I have only shot a TC and its a fine bow.
Rivers Edge cant go wrong. Have 2 of there bows a and 3 set of limbs.. I also like my Fox. Both are easy to deal with and make good shooting bows. BTW - they look great.
Rich k
Haven't shot a Dwyer but have owned a Thunderchild. It's a great bow.
Mine was just a little lighter draw than I wanted so it got traded.
No offense to Big Jim, but I handled a Dwyer this weekend and it would be my choice.
Chad Holm's Osprey is a great hybred also. It's worth a look....DaveP
I am curious.... ....why is it when a guy has thought things through and norrowed his choice to 2-3 bows which he names, do all sorts of other bows get brought up?? Never fails, but I wonder why. The choice here is between a Big Jim thunderchild or Dwyer.
Huu Wee.Now i've been checking out all kinds of Hybrids with all yal have mentioned. Now if my wife would only let me have 1 of each.lol
It's a tough decision to make if you have never handled either bow. I say pic one and go for it, worst case scenario it goes to the classifieds where I dont think you would have a problem selling either bow.
This question puts a smile on my face! I would love to shoot both and decide.
Add Kanati to the mix. I am looking at a few options in the same configuration and Kanati keeps coming up. Curious how they compare to the Thunderchild
Your original two choices are good ones.
I happen to own two Dwyers (Defiant and Endeavor) but I'm positive the Thunderchild would be a winner too especially if you want a td model.
I take bow-brand cheerleading with a grain of salt.
I would check the classifieds, no wait, I'll save you the effort.
You won't find a Thunderchild or an Endeavor listed. THAT tells me their owners are happy.
HARD CHOICE,ALL GOOD BOWS,,,,ZIPPER OR GRIFFEN OR SHREW,,,
