Hey gang, I'm getting serious about this trad stuff this year. I want the groups opinion of a recommended starting point for arrow spine. I tried to go to stu's calculator, but this iPad won't run it.
I am shooting a two tracks 60 inch longbow (long walker) it has a mild reflex / deflex to it. It is rated #50 @ 28, my draw is just under 27, so I'm guessing I'm @47 lbs.
I shoot ceder arrows, with a glove, my length from back of point to string notch in the nock is 28.5 inches. 125 point weight.
I think that's everything, I will post what I'm shooting after I get a few responses. I don't want what I'm shooting to reflect on the answers giving. I did have a trad shop help me by shooting bare shaft aluminums and converting over to ceder. But in all fairness I was new and was probably not releasing too consistently.
Thanks,
Dan
50/55 would work if your using a dacron string, though 55/60 might work also
I too think 50-55. I shoot 27.5" draw 45-50 out of a 45# recurve 28 3/4' arrow 125 point.
Thanks guys, that is good to hear. My first set of arrows was made 50 - 55, my second set was cut an inch longer and the the trad shop owner automatically bumped me up to 55 - 60.
Sounds like I'm where I need to be, now I am back to following the post on paper tuning and the bareshaft tuning discussion.
Thanks again !
Dan
I would say the 55-60s would shoot best cut to 28.5 bop. Shawn
