I have been reading on this site about placement for the arrow rest. Can someone tell me what the differences are and why? I don't understand why they are not all the same. So can some of you please educate me on this matter?
I was trying to ask why are some in the middle and some are not.
Thanks
Really not sure what your asking, but you place them at the high point of the shelf, if flat guys usually place something underneath to create a high point. On my modern bows the arrow shelves are crowned but I place a piece of velcro to cover the crown and 1/2" or so on either side. Shawn
Sorry I am just learning I am talking about the shelf the arrow rests on. I have read were some are in the center of the bow and some are not.
Is that the right way to put it?
the contact point should be rite above the deepest spot on the handle,or slightly forward of that.hope that helps
when i got my longbow, it had a flat shelf and all that was put on for a rest was a little piece of camo felt. i just picked up a bear weather rest just to tinker and was wondering if this is what i should use on my longbow instead?
and why, farther back creates a n overdraw efect
I think he meant riser center cut vs. off center and I'm not the best person to elaborate on that
Yes that is what i was trying to say.
Thank you for helping me out
Robert---Try this link (you can also access it from Mr. Adcock's site)--on page 8 is some discussion about the subject, with a couple of diagrams that might be helpful.

Hope it helps.

I think rluttrell is talking about 'symmetrical vs assymetrical' why some bows have a shelf cut in the middle and some have it 1 1/2" above. If so, the assymetrical gang like the way the bow carries balanced in the hand. And the other group likes the shelf in the middle; the differences are religious..................and don't forget the Yumi.
