i made my first self bow last month and was wondering how to determine what arrows i need the bow is 50# at 21 draw all the charts i have seen dont go to that short of an arrow anyone have any ideas? thanx
Are you shooting 22" arrows? If so I would try some 30-35 5/16 shafts with 125 up front.
yes i would like to shoot 22 inch arrow
Three Rivers sells a test pack of arrows in different spines, its a pretty good investment if you are making/testing your own bows. I have one myself and it takes the guess work out of choosing arrows.
If you buy store bought arrows or shafts their marked spine is for a 28" arrow. For each inch less that 28" you will increase the spine by 5# per inch. So if you but a 40# spined arrow and cut it to 22" it will spine out at 70#. This cal;culation is with a 125 gr point attached.
Buy some Tonkin Cane Bamboo shafts off of E-b#$y. They seem to shoot out of everything well regardless of bow poundage. They are also tough as nails and will last a long time. Just about as good or as good as carbon shafts, but half the price.
I might add that the arrow does not need to be cut anywhere near 21 inches. Leave them 24-25 inches. It won't hurt a thing.
i know it wont hurt to leave them longer i just preffer to have them short less in my vission
