Title: Skinned Limbs?
Post by: MTArrowLauncher on April 11, 2011, 03:07:00 PM
Who's got 'em? And how do you like 'em?

Show me pics, trying to decide if I want them on my custom build

Thanks
Fin

I bought a bow here that has copperhead skinned limbs.  I love the look.

Dont forget, some skins are translucent so the wood behind them shows through. Copperheads are a great example.  So your limb veneers would be better picked to bring out the colors in the skin. Ask your bowyer. Copperheads put over black glass can look more gray than anything, but the same skins put over osage or cocobolo will look totally different from each other.
What type of skin are you thinking of, or what are your woods you will be possibly skinning over??

Cant go wrong withy prairies. Go well over anything. Just tried to show a pic of a Silvertip I had of walnut dymondwood riser with prairies over black glass but photo bucket isn't working. I'll try later.

The weather never reaches the snakeskin. There are a variety of finishes to protect them. But they'll last a long time if properly applied and finished.
