I moved and finally have a little space to hang my bows up. My dad (Rick Butler) was a huge help, not only for letting me use his tools and garage, but also showing me how to drill out the antlers and helping me select everything to make this bow rack turn out so well.
Pic's resized, sorry about that. I thought the preview photo bucket showed, was the actual size not 60%

I like it! Opened this post expecting to see a buck with a nice rack. Instead its a bow rack. Pretty cool.

Looks nice, I think I need one.
Pretty Sweet, nice job!
I forgot to mention that these sheds are from Ray Hammond, he sent them back with my dad in march.
That's one of the best ideas I've seen lately.
Good job. Now I might have to do a copy.

I like that. Is your ceiling high and board thick enough you could drill holes in the top of it to stick arrows in?

Great looking bow rack! It not only shows off your bows well, but becomes a conversation piece as well.

Ilike it,very nice
Nice! That's a different twist to an old idea.
I can just see a smaller version of that for coats and hats at the entrance to a new home we hope to be working on next year.
Hey Sean...great job buddy! :knothead: Heck, I'm predicting that he will be making one for himself in the future...(using boar's teeth!)
Ha thanks Robin! Actually last year at hog heaven Ray gave me a couple boar tusks and i still need a coat rack!
Jamesh76, That is an awesome idea!
Thank you everyone, hope you enjoyed.
The total cost of the board was about $20.00. I used a 48" red oak board and just put some stain on it.
It took about 3 hours from start to finish but I imagine if we made another one we could have at least 45 minutes off our time.
What a rack! :bigsmyl: couldn't resist.
Seriously I love it!
Awesome looking rack. It's got me thinking.
nice. . . that thing probably makes book too with that spread.

Pretty cool.nice job.
Sean, How did you drill out and fasten your antler tips to the board?

Nice job Sean. Ya have a HH on the way so two more open spots as I see it that need to be filled.
Norminator,
we used a variable speed dremmel to get the holes in the antlers and i think they were 1 1/2" wood screws to secure them to. We started with 2" screws but found they were to long. after the holes were drilled we twisted the anters on. some went on really easy some were quite tough but once they were attached they felt very solid.
We had talked about using epoxy or wood glue to prevent any twisting but after seeing how snug they went on the board we chose not to.
Neat idea....

Doug,
actually dad casually forgot to mention that my foley was still in his basement.
