I would like some info from a few of you that have footed carbons, with aluminum shafting. I would like too foot the carbons for about
the first inch or two. What size diameter alum shafting do I use? Best to glue with, Insert Iron which I have, or epoxy? Any other suggestions?

I footed some Easton Axis 500's which are pretty much the same exact arrow without the woodgrain finish. I use 1916 aluminum arrows cut to 1 1/4" long. I tried some with JB Weld and some with super glue. The ones with super glue would come loose after a while. The one's done with JB Weld held tight. I mark the arrow where the footing will be and sand it pretty well. I also sand the inside of the footing using a cordless drill. I wrap some sticky backed sandpaper around a small drill bit to do the inside of the footing. I also put the footings in the cordless drill and spin them against a file on an angle to chamfer the back side(makes them easier to pull out of targets).
I apply the JB Weld to the inside of the footing and to the outside of the shaft. Before applying the JB weld to the shaft, I use a Q-tip cut off to about 1 inch long and insert it in to the end of the shaft. After installing the footing, I pull out the Q-tip and it helps remove any epoxy that gets in the end of the shaft. I then screw in the tip and push the footing against the tip and wipe the excess off of the back of the footing. I then remove the tip being careful not to disturb the footing. I let them dry before reinstalling the tip. I have had really good luck using this method and it definitely has strengthened the arrows. I also did not notice any difference in the way they shot.

That chart recommends 2020.Keep in mind,the wood grain dipping adds diameter.I've had good luck with with JB Weld and light sanding also.I use 220 grit.My footings are 1".I have used longer but haven't seen any difference.I also add a 1/4" piece to the nock end.
I footed my Beman MFX Classic 500s with 2020 Legacy shafting. Worked great and I used Gorilla glue with two inch sections of shafting. I only use denatured alcohol to clean the arrow and the inside of the aluminum footing. Never had any problem with any coming loose. Chamfer one end to aid in removing from targets.
