Looking to put together an olympic style bow with aluminum riser and carbon foam limbs. Any advice as to what brand to go with? I plan to shoot "off the shelf" and keep it as trad as I can. I'm thinking 40-45# and 66". I'm considering Hoyt and Samick as well..

I shoot the gold medalist with carbon/foam limbs at 48 lbs. 26in 2013 and 4/4inch feathers. It works great for me. But I do shoot over an elevated rest! I don't think the game will mind! lol :saywhat:
Mr. Chuck, Have you ever chronied that setup? You're right, the game could care less about the rest, and they shoot sooo well off an elevated rest. I'm just planning to shoot some comp, and thats the only reason I want to stay on the shelf.
Most guys that I know favor Bernardini risers for this type of barebow syle. Personally, I use hoyt risers, but shoot off a rest and use stabilizers. As far as limbs, Win and Win for me.
Depends a whole lot on what you want to spend, the Dalaa wil be a lot cheaper than a Bernardi or even a good win/win. For the money a hoyt Excel is a great choice and for carbon/foams as far as price, Samick has some around $280 and SB Flute which is what I am shooting can be had for $250 shipped and they are great limbs. Win/Win carbon/foams again big bucks, great limbs but big bucks. If you are not sure you are gonna love this than I would go less expensive to start, if you decide to sell you will take a big hit but not as big as if you put $1200 into a riser and limbs. Just my 2 cents! Shawn
I've looked at the Samick Athletes, and they look like great limbs. I want to find a riser with a little more weight to it than the Excel, I've shot bows with the Dalaa, and excel riser and like the Dalaa much more.
Thanks for all the advice... With luck I'll be happy with whatever I end up with.

Remember that you can always add weights designed for barebow risers that will remain within tournament regulations.
Sky or Trad Tech.
Kevin are you trying to out shoot Joe now? You beat him with the other stick :)
I've been trying to out shoot Joe for years:) I've also been giving up 20+ FPS, and shooting against a better balanced bow and shooter. That speed makes a big difference in the long shots!!
