Title: My New-to-Me Kanati Bow! More Pics Added to First Post...
Post by: ishoot4thrills on April 04, 2011, 09:42:00 AM
Been wanting to try one of these for awhile now and I finally got my chance at the Ky Tradfest Sunday morning. After shooting the Kanati, I loved it so much that I traded my Predator recurve for it and some other things, including a Big Jim bow quiver, and some cash. Already got it tuned to my Beman MFX 500 Classics and it's like I've been shooting this bow for years. One of the easiest bows to setup I've ever had. Jason makes a fine bow!

Sorry about the crappy background. I just had to get some pics of it so I didn't take too much time looking for the ideal place to do it!

Specs are: 53#@28"(49#@ my 26.75" draw) and 58" AMO. Limbs are bamboo lams and core with black glass front and back. Diamondwood "Heritage Walnut" color phase riser.

..................Picture UPDATE................

Man, I just can't get enough of shooting this bow! I am amazed at how easy this bow is to shoot. Not too hard on the eyes either. Been shooting it off and on all day long from 20 yards to 27 yards.

Predator to a Kanati, that's a pretty big switch. both good bows though.

He makes a heck of a bow that will shoot just about any arrow good.

If only he made a take down, hint, hint

Nice looking bow!         I think I made that one for Matt Lamey, I am glad to hear it found a home! Be sure to send me your mojo photos.

OXB, I have a 3 piece in the works, just waiting on a drilling jig from the machine shop and I should be ready. I hope!

Edit, I was just cleaning out my PM's and you already knew that  :D

Great bow, you won't be disappointed! I think I may be the first Canadian that Jason shipped to and couldn't be more satisfied with mine. One of the best grips in the business and very fast.

Yes, Matt, according to Jason, that was your bow. Did you sell it or trade it to Big Jim?

I am curious, how was your transition from recurve to a Kanati. Speed, forgiveness, overall enjoyment? I am making a to a hybrid r/d longbow too

To be honest I cant remember who I traded,  i think it was some one in NC though.   I am looking to buy another in the 45-48 range.

Trying to catch up on this thread.

targets3D, the transition from recurve to this bow was not a factor at all. In speed, I lost 3-4 fps but I gained 2-3 fps back because the Kanati doesn't need string silencers. Oh, and the Kanati is only one more pound in draw weight than the Predator I had before it.

As for forgiveness and overall enjoyment, all I can say is that I have NO regrets whatsoever from the trade deal I made for the Kanati.

Thanks for the compliments.

I have no negative feelings toward the Predator at all. I will always have a special place in my heart for Pittsley's Predators. They are great bows. But, I find myself being drawn more and more towards one piece r/d longbows.   :goldtooth:

WOW, I'm impressed with your knowledge of my bow trading history! You are absolutely correct. Both the Beeler and the Predator are great bows as well as my new-to-me Kanati. But, I have absolutely no regrets in my bow trading and how it has ended up. I only wish I could have kept them all and still have my Kanati!   :knothead:

Allen, it does have a pink string! Remember? I got it from you shortly after I got the bow!

See?:

Oh, btw, I decided the bow was plenty quiet by itself with the new string so I ditched the silencers.   :)
