Title: Colorado hunter orange?
Post by: wislnwings on April 01, 2011, 10:38:00 PM
I've been trying to find the answer to this on the Division of Wildlife site but no luck.  We are looking at hunting mid September for elk and would overlap the muzzleloader draw hunt.  Do we need to wear hunter orange during the muzzleloader season while bowhunting?  If so, what are the min requirements?

It is NOT required to wear hunter orange if you are bowhunting during the Muzz. season.

What elksong said. However, I usually carry an orange cap or stocking cap into camp, just in case I get into a lot of ML hunters.

The blaze orange is not a big deal.  Elk/deer pretty much see it as an off white and I find it's at least as good as snow camo once the ground gets white.

Arky has a good idea.

Few years ago I was belly crawlin in on a nice buck I had spotted, I was about thirty yards away and closing when I heard the ball go directly over me. A smokepoler had shot at the the same buck I was after. Not a good feeling. I stood up and the guy saw me, he felt really bad about it, nobodys fault really just an accident but still...not a bad idea to wear a little orange during the muzzy season even if you dont have to. He hit the buck by the way took us the rest of the day to find him and get him out.
