My ten year old granddaughter asked her mother last night if she could skip tennis this summer so she could work on her archery.. She's been shooting since she was six... Saturday we head to a Bowyer so she can get a longbow of her own..
Can you say proud grandpa.... :archer:
Congrats Mike, new shooting buddy for life. Thats what it's all about. :clapper: :clapper:
Congrats, what a feeling it is to pass it along to the future.

That's music to a grandpa's ears.
That's great
Must feel great, still looking forward to that day. But mine are shooting, so cross the fingers
Yes that is great. So many things you can teach them during shooting besides marksmanship and killing.
That is a girl with her priorities straight.
Good for her.
Wow, that is Quality TYME! :bigsmyl: :archer2:
That's great, congratulations :)
Grandchildren are one of God's greatest gifts.
Any healthy, outdoor activities you can share with them will surely enrich them (and you!)

Javi!I can't wait till my Grandchildren decide archery will be the outdoor activity of choice. And when the invoice arrives from the bowyer Gramma will approve, willingly. Congratulations to you and your granddaughter. Ken
Javi, I know the feeling friend. When my two grand childern come over, first, can we shoot the bow and arrow, always, then ride the atv. Sure makes me happy, they even want to go hunting with me this season. They may be a little young 6 and 4 1/2 but what the hay if they want to go, then they go.

My oldest daughetr shot alot with me when she was growing up and went on to win an IBO championship(with a compound). Those were great memories. My son who just turned 18 shoots and hunts with me all the time. Now my daughter is about to have a child any day. My first grandson. How long do you think I should wait to have his first bow made?
Here's my new grand baby boy...get them started early!
Sorry, I had trouble resizing the pic.

Thanks, she's been shooting since she was 6 and her little sister started at 4, now my grandson is shooting at the age of 3..
It's never too early to get them started, but I advise letting them ask rather than telling them..
Once the older one asked me then they all wanted to do it.. So I bought them a mini Genesis and let them have fun... Now and then they will ask me.. Grandpa, how do you do this or that and I get to give them a little instruction..
But I never push them to learn anything, it has to be at their pace or they will quickly tire of it and move on to something else..
Great advice...I wouldn't shoot either if it wasn't fun.
Mike, Great for you and your Grand Daughter. You are a lucky man. Mine is nine and loves the Shoot her TD Recurve a Cupid. She really is doing well, but she lives to far away for a regular schedule. We really enjoy our time.
Lucky man.. I can't wait until I get the opportunity to introduce mine to archery, if she gets interested. Still have a few years yet, since she's only 4 months old. Enjoy that time with her, it's priceless.
Well, she got to meet Bob Sarrels and learn how a bow is built, then Bob fitted her for her own custom bow.. She was so excited it was special..
That is AWSOME!!  :archer2:
Granddaughter caught in mid draw trying out one of Bob Sarrels creations..
