How often do you change strings? And what are some signs that a string needs changing?
Depends on how much I shoot but I normally like to change my strings once every year or at the most a year and half. If I see alot of fuzzing on the string or if I see it fraying or my brace height wont stay on the money I change strings. I hope this helps
I also change out my bowstrings once a year.
At least once a year. More often if I think there is any wear at all on the string.
Once a year for fequently shot bows is probably a good idea. If you have a couple of wallhangers not shot frequently, going longer than a year is probably okay.
I have some bow that have strings dozens of years old. Depends how much they get used. Annually is not a bad policy.
I change mine every year and wax them every 4-6 weeks.
!!WOW!!
I only shoot maybe 100 shots a week in the off season. Maybe 300 per week while hunting season is open.
I have strings that are quite a few years old and look fine. Maybe a small little "fuzz" here and there. But nothing to make me want to replace them.
I do KEEP my strings well waxed though.
Maybe it makes a difference that I use heated (melted) wax.
I just probably shoot 1/4 as many arrows as the rest of you.
Keep myne few years but wax them often and keep my bow always unstrung after practice.
I wax mine often and when I see fraying or excessive wear I change them,a good string taken care of should last a while. I also shoot almost every day all year.
I have lots of bows and lots of strings. I could ill afford to replace every one every year. I try to maintain them better.
As long as they are waxed and maintained I do not see the need in replaceing them unless I see excessive wear
When i see alot of fraying,
Thanks for all the input guys, wasn't sure how many strings to get with my new bow but this gives me a good idea of what I need to last me a while.
