Is bamboo worth the extra expense for core material in limbs.
Yes it is in my opininion and with some bowyers it does not cost extra, I suspect they want the best possible performance from their bows.
Yes!!! it seams to me the draw is smoother and performance is better.
Ask Bill Howland... hope you have a good long distance calling plan... he'll talk your ears off.
If I recall correctly... he did not recommend it as a limb core for my Brack. Wish I saved the email I had saved about this.

Extra cost or standard prices bamboo is an excellent core material.
yes
Well it depends on the bamboo. We grind our own and know whats in it so it is our top performer and seller.
There are a lot of bamboos and bamboo laminates out there that don't work well in our bows though.
not all bamboo is the same.

Yup..... All bamboo is not created equal... but the good stuff makes a very nice homogeneous core. i use it in all my limbs unless otherwise specified.
Thanks for all the info, got one on order from A&H.
Now that's funny, we grind the bamboo for A&H and are doing it this morning.
LOL

I prefer bamboo for my core limb materials. Both of my Blacktails have bamboo limbs.
what mike and kirk just said - as with woods, not all grass boo/cane is equal, and tempering adds yet another dimension. all that said, i'll not have a stick bow without tempered boo/cane cores. ymmv.
I have had a fair number of bows, The ones that shot well for me, had a smooth draw, and seemed to perform the best all had Bamboo cores. Longbows and recurves..........
I am a huge Bamboo fan! To me Bamboo is much, much, much better than actionwood.
So yes it is worth the $ to me.
I have one bow with bamboo as the core and it is great! It happened to be a bow blank from Mike at Dryad. Well worth it to me.
I have both bows with bamboo and actionwood and much prefer the actionwood.
Smoother to draw and is quicker in my opinion.

I really like Maple core best... It's used by alot of different boyers. For years it was the standard. I think bamboo matters when used in certin configrition/bow limbs.

From what I've read it's boo for longbows yes... recurves no... or something like that.
I have bamboo in one of my ACS CX bows-is it worth the extra 50 bucks? Sure why not? Is it the end all-be all? The other woods work just fine too.
