Post by: hawk22 on March 30, 2011, 09:10:00 PM
I'm going to be in Minneapolis for work for a few days next week and didn't know if there were any traditional archery shops in the area?

If you come to Rochester to the Footed Shaft(great shop) you might want to take in the 50th Anniversary Celebration of The Pope&Young Club At the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester April 7-9. Info at:507-867-4144.

Bwana is a joke, don't bother with that suggestion, can't believe someone said that. The Footed Shaft is the only one and I have not been there since Lamont sold it, seems like alot of changes from afar, used to go there once a year, good stop. The pope and Young Museum can't be beat, in Chatfield about 20 Min from Rochester but a few hours from Minneapolis. Should be rainy when your here.

If you're going to be here one of the next couple of Sundays, the Rapids club has a fun traditional league at 6PM. Just a fun shoot. You're welcome to join us to shoot or just BS. Let me know if you are interested and I'll get you the info.

Didn't realize the footed shaft was in rochester.  I'm in the twin cities and surrounding area all the time for work.  I'll definitely be stopping in.

I bought my first stickbow at bwana...though it's not a trad shop LOL!

A damon howatt hunter and I think I paid 180 bucks...maybe a bit less.  John sr Jr and Karen have only gotten older lol...not much has changed in 20some years.

does the rapids club still have the indoor 3d shoots in the winter?  I remember shooting through a curtain and around a ton of xmas trees..has been years now.  been trying to get my local club to have one shoot a year like that one, gonna call it the 'cabin fever shoot'.  Months of -40 and dark will do that too ya   ;)   It had to be one of the more fun shoots I've attended in my life time!

Rapids does 2D targets sunday night - we usually are shooting by 5:15 and ends early, like 7pm. They move them around 15 stations 5-20 some yards. They think it's funny when they break my arrows, I hear, oh - sorry   :goldtooth:  It's all alot of fun.

Those 3D indoor shoots were a blast. Unfortunately the county won't let us bring all those trees in the building anymore.(fire hazzard) Too bad. It's been years since we've been able to do those shoots.

Ya there were a TON of trees LOL!  It was a hoot!  wish the guys up here would open up to it.  They have fought me for awhile to the point I give up,  yet they are trying to find something to do indoors when it's -40........ugg!
