Sometimes good things come out of mistakes. I had stained some shafts and then decided to taper them. Well of course the taper was not stained. But I liked the way the stained front end slowly faded into the natural doug fir for a sort of "natural crown". So I left it! I really like the color of the raw doug fir which is a creamy hue. Anyway, hope I make some more mistakes like this one!
Had to fletch with unprocessed turkey feathers for the full natural theme. Might have to go off the deep end and try some self nocks and obsidian points!

Very nice!
very nice my friend, you have to like mistakes you dont regret! hey look sweet.
Those are beautiful i am going to have to try that on my next set of arrows possibly.
Boy, I sure like them too. My mistakes never turn out like that. Matter of fact my successes seldom come out like that.
Good lookin arrows right there. I think you can get too much BLING in a hurry with all the fancy Dips, Cresting, and Arrow Wraps.
I reckon simple minded folks like simple things :clapper:
Very nice looking arrows! I think you "hit" on something with your mistake. I even had to show my wife your beautiful arrows. She said they're "Indianish". I couldn't agree more. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Great looking arrows !!!
I like the way you think Mudd! Those elk will just be lined up to take one of these beauties....in my dreams!
Thanks for the nice woods. Just thought this might be a tip that others would like to try. What are we going to call this process?
Stain-flame, Taper-fades, ????
Nice David, nice.I really like those Naturals!
Good looking arrows Snag. It's great when mistakes work out like that.
I Like 'UM! I tell you what I just bought a dozen myself. As far as I'm concerned they're the best Woodies I ever shot! I even like them better then Sitka Spruce. AND I love Sitka Spruce! :archer: :jumper:
Those look great! I will have to do that.
I agree Bentpole...the best wood out there today!
Nice mistake, Snag.
I like the "color" of that fletching. Have you ever done a charcoal color stain on the Surewoods?
Very Nice...

I may have to mess up a few like that myself!
Nice "mistake".
They came out nice. I left some unstained for the top 9" and stained the rest dark walnut, I called them poor man's cap. Sometimes plain is good!!
Love that look!
I've done that myself. Still do. It's a great look!
You done good. I just call them fade's.
SIMPLE AND CLASSY,,,GOOD WORK,,,

That ain't luck, that's skill . . . full recovery.

Those look great!
Sometimes you've just got to take what you're given and it is all for the best...just keep learning these lessons even after 50+ yrs.
Sweet David................
I really like those arrows!
Very nice Snag. Love the feather chopper pattern also. Does that design make much noise as compared to a parabolic?
TJ I don't hear any more or less noise off this design than a regular shield cut.
Gorgeous!
I really like em
Dive, That is the kind of mistake I like.
Very nice
God bless you, Steve

Those are really nice!

Thanks guys. Sometimes you just stumble upon something and it works without any real purpose on your part! haha
Thanks for sharing. It is a good alternative to consider. I kinda like it.
