Had a little excitement over coffee this morning. Yesterday, while my wife and I were busy remodeling the kitchen my youngest went out the chicken coop to gather the eggs. When she got to the back door we had it blocked off so she set the egg basket down and went off to play in the rain. Well, none of us remembered the eggs and they stayed on the back porch over night.
Early this morning I got up and put the morning coffee on then went to get the paper. As I was looking over the sports my wife hollers from the kitchen, 'There's something up by the chicken coop."
I go to the back door and look and sure enough, theres a grinner poking around. As luck would have it, I just received in the mail this week two Bear Super Kodiaks, one 45# and the other 50#. I'm trying desperately to find a bow that goes easy on my shoulder and I think I found a pair that fit me :) I had chance to shoot the 45#er a for a little while between rain storms and she was sitting in the living room, awaiting a face lift.
I grabbed it and a 2018 tipped with a 125 grain Phoenix and marched outside in my pj's. I had briefly considered taking a Talon loaded arrow, but just wasn't sure as I haven't shot them from a bow less than 53#'s, and felt I'd rather be safe than sorry.
I noticed on the way out that the egg basket was empty and shells were on the deck. Guess I know why the opossum was hanging out. Got tired of cat food I imagine. Well, hanging out after dawn broke was probably not a good call on his part.
I can't say that what ensued was much of a hunt, but I am pleased with the new bow. The Super Kodiak grip feels natural in my hand, swung up easy and drew sooo smooth. 45#'s might just be something I can handle for a while. Anyway, a well placed arrow and the not so rapidly escaping little egg stealer had his career cut short.
The scene of the crime.

Way to go! Them there are some nasty little critters!
That kodiak is a nice looking bow :)
Looks like good shooting too, no more eggs for that fella!
There you go...over breakfast you got dinner arranged! haha Good shooting.
Reminds me of a morning when I caught one walking out from under the deck. Grabbed my bow and shot him at 15yds, stuck him to the ground. But these buggers are tough. He turned and tried to walk toward me! Had to put another one in him to finish the job.
now that you got him what do you plan on doing with him? nice shot by the way
Excellent way to break-in a new bow. Nice shootin'.
Shot a Possum in your pajamas? How'd he get in your pajamas? :biglaugh:
I've shot 2 from my back porch this winter with an old Woodsman BH. I agree, they are nasty little critters but not really that tough when "tenderized" by a truck tire!

Way to deliver Stan!
Good thing the rain settled down so your fletching did not mat...or you might of had a challenge steerin' that broadhead.
:~)
Shoot straight, Shinken
I don`t give a Possum a break either.
The only time I shoot them, is when I see them.
You got TWO bows in the mail in the SAME week!??!!?
Are you going to tell us what the PY score is?
You could fix that up along with some grits and invite Mr LaClair over for a special meal...lol
J/K Ron!
Those sharp toothed little critters can really take a licking and just keep on ticking sometimes.
I have unloaded a full magazine from a 10/22 into one that was walking and he never broke stride.
I am sure it ruined his day(s) but he went out of my sight to do... whatever.
God bless,Mudd
PS: Congratulations on your two bows and it was great to hear at least one of them was at a draw weight you could shoot
Great shot and nice lookin' bow. My wife would be thrilled to see that - she absolutely DESPISES possums!
Eric.
Now there a sunday dinner..Love those grinners..Nice skin for a hat...
Good shooting now all you need to do is fry and add toast. It's already full of eggs. They are nasty little critters.
NICE,BOW KILL,,,HEY,,,
I've zipped two one on the deck last winter and one in the back yard a few weeks ago. It's a blast.
Nice shooting. I have been working with my Super Kodiak lately. Nice bows.
That Super K is a real Critter-Killer!
Remind me to never come to your place for breakfast lol.
Nice job Stan!!
And they look like brown eggs to boot, they are the best!!! Job well done and great looking bow!!
Nice job :bigsmyl:
Well, my daughters and I went out last night during a break in the rain looking for nutria. No luck, although we did see two raccoons (season ended the 15th :( ) I was itching to give this bow another workout.
I guess I won't tell the story of the pet possum I just met at the water-jet cutting shop..............
 Be sure and put some sweet taters in the pot!
