I shoot A&H longbows and want to try some aluminum arrows, I've been using carbons for years.
My arrow length is 31" and my draw length is right at 30". I'm shooting about 53# at my draw.
What shaft would you guys recommend ?
Thanks !
Pat,
What weight up front? PM me so I have the info and I'll run it in "Stu's Calculator" for you.

I used to shoot about the same thing with 125 grs and a swaged tip. Shot 2114's and 2016's. I liked the 2114's better they were lighter and shot a bit flatter.

Hello Pat B.
I crunched the numbers on the DSC for you and you may be surprised by the results. With the long arrow length and the fact that the A&H is a pretty efficient design, you end up needing a pretty stiff shaft.
I did make the assumption that you were shooting a CX take down longbow with a total strike plate thickness of 0.1" (pretty typical with a slight buildout).
The arrow reccomeded is a 2216 shaft cut to 31.25" BOP length using the std. aluminum insert and 125 gr points. Fletched with three 5" feathers and it should match very well and easy to tune the bow to it.

Thanks for the help !!
I'll give them a try.

Pat, you and I shoot about the same draw weight and about the same point weight with exactly the same arrow length. If you want to continue using heavy front-end loads (heavy points & BH's) you'll probably need 2219's. I shoot around 250-300 grains up front and need the 2219 at our arrow shaft length and with our draw weight. I have a bunch of them. If you want to give some of them a try I can send you some and you can try them out. Send me a pm or an e-mail.
Well John beat me to it. I would say 2216 to 2219 depending on what wieght you want up front and depending what total arrow wieght you want.
John, thank you so much for the offer but if I recall correctly, way back in a closet, I still have some 2219's.. I'll dig a few out and give 'em a fling !
Fully loaded up front with a heavy point those long 2219's are a load - probably 700 grains or so. Perfect close-range pig medicine.
I have had good luck with 2216 out bows that are that poundage and cut to center, I draw 29+ on a good day...lol! My 66" Acs at 48# likes them also...125 up front.
