I know this is old news to some as I learned about it here but I just made an awesome target. I used a few months worth of plastic shopping bags placed indidviualy(to avoid clumps and voids) into a burlap bag and then double baged into another burlap bag for durability. It stoped my recurve and another bow(wheel) that shoots considerbly faster with the same arrow weight. The best thing about it is it weights about 5lb. I can move it easily, hange easily, and throw in the back of the truck to take camping. So save your shopping bags and when you have about a trash bag packed full make a traget that weighs nothing and will stop just about any field point arrow.
Very good idea, and it is relatively waterproof. My bag targets get slightly waterlogged, and the birds like the stuffing material for nesting.
Yes, I do that myself. Great targets, and cheap!!
I actualy put a heavy trash bag over the first bag before placing inside the second to further the waterproof aspect, but it should stay relatively dry anyway. Cost 1.50 a bag so 3.00 total, well there were a lot of groceries to get those free plastic bags.
Awesome, thanks for the tip.
They work great, but if you want a real arrow stopper, go to your local grocery store and have them save you the shrink wrap off there pallets that come in, it works twice as good as regular plastic bags.
Cheers
Great idea thanks for the tip.
Hey TD is the shrink wrap as light as the bags. To me that is the greatest advantage of this target. It is so light you can move it and take it anywhere.
It works great! I have done it for years. Many a camping trip it gets thrown in the back of the truck and has stopped many arrows. Stuff in more plastic bags or new burlap cover it just keeps going. I spray or mark a center circle to focus on.
I,ve used the ones made out of shrink wrap but they weigh more than 5#'s! Work great though! (For fieldpoints)
