Any of you guys ever heard or maybe shot an AMF Wing Archery Falcon recurve? I have been looking for a cheap bow in a light draw weight to begin shooting traditional. This bow is 30#. Just wanting opinions on weather it is a good bow or not.
Thanks
I picked up a pristine used one that was a 35 pounder. Put a new string on it and shot it for a while. Was a beautiful bow and a good shooter. AMF bought out Wing at some point and I have heard that quality suffered. Not very valuable, but an excellent bow to start with. Find some light spined arrows, like 1816's or light spined carbons and start shootin'!
Decent bows, I think. You can find a Browning pretty cheap, too----and they are very nice.
AMF wing bows are a lot of fun.
I have owned several old Wings made by AMF, they are good bows. We still have a Hunter that my son uses for bowfishing, we don't even take good care of that and it holds up well.
Great old bows!
Oh...and welcome to TG!
Good to see more home boys on here!
Mike
The first new recurve I ever bought was a AMF wing Thunderbird.
I have half a dozen Red Wing Hunters; a mix of original Texas built Wings, Head Ski and AMF bows. While there are diffeneces between the original Wings and the others; all shoot equally well in my opinion. The original Wings tend to be lighter with narrower limbs while the Head Ski and AMF bows have wider limbs and heavier risers.
