, I have a double bull blind,, the recurve model. I am wondering if my new 62 inch rf-df longbow will shoot ok out of it. I would set it up and try it,, and I will, but we are still snowed in and its not possible right now.
South just introduced his longbow models late last year so there might not be a large group that have had a chance to shoot them out of any blinds yet. He seems to be selling a bunch of them now so that pool of experience should be getting deeper. I have shot my 60" recurves out of an Eastman LX-5 with only minimal problems. I would guess that if you cant your bow and set-up a chair in the right spot you should do fine with a 62" longbow. I hope your weather improves so you can give us a first hand report. Good luck!
Is the recurve model larger than the Matrix? If so, you should have no problems. I shoot my 60" longbow out of the Matrix and Predator Den models with plenty of room.
Aren't you tired of the snow? I'm pretty sick of it. Over the fences in alot of places here, snowed and blowed more yesterday, and more snow in the forecast the rest of the week. :banghead:
Without a problem. I have a DB recurve model as well and regularly hunt out of it with 64" longbows. I had an older DB that was the standard model and could shoot out of it, but really had to make sure to cant my longbow. That was the reason I sold it and bought a new recurve model. I don't like to shoot with a lot of cant to my bow, if I can get away with it.
I've got the db recurve and use 62" longbows. I'm 5'10' if that helps any. Hitting the top is not an issue. I sit on a small chair, but haven't bothered to set it up for a few years.
I get bored and off I go trying to sneak up on something.
You're fine.. plenty of room unless you're 6'5"
the recurve model is a few inches taller, I have shot 60 inch recurves and longbows out of the recurve model with no problems and I really don't anticipate any problems with 1 extra inch on each end. was just thinking maybe somebody would confirm this for me. We are going to have to have a lot of snow melt b4 turkey season opens, most years we have been out shooting for a good month. Got 6 more inches yesterday,
ah good 3 more posts and its just what I wanted to hear. I'm 6 foot so I should be good to go. I'm turkey accurate out to 11 yards,, at least in my basement, I just got to get in the blind for a few shots
Hunted with a 64" bow out of a Matrix last season.
Worked, but would definately not the best option.
I too have hunted with a 64" out of a standard double bull. It was me (6'3" and 325lbs) with a turkey guide in the corner. Certainly wall to wall BigJim, but was a do able thing.

No problem!
No problem, I shoot my Morrison Shawnee 64" alot of times out of a recurve/compound blind, I'm 5'7" sitting down.
I have shot a 66 inch longbow out of a standard double bull and I stand 5"11".
Thats great info. I was wondering the same thing.
Redant 60/65... How tall are you when you stand up  :scared:
BTW, if your skilled enough, the Trail Blazers could probably use you on their team
Gene
I shot this buck out of my DB matrix 360 with a 64" Hill.

I also use a 62" R/D longbow and have a double bull recurve model and can shoot well out of it without any issues but you gotta practice.
Only issue you might have is if you shoot your bow more vertically... (rather than canting) if so you'll possibly run into some clearance issues...
I know I did when I went to canting about 1 o'clock to get more string clearance past my chest... had to go to a shorter bow...

Thanks Gene I just spewed coffee all over my screen.

I dig a little trench on the inside of the blind also to help with clearance and I have used a 60 inch recurve out of the doghouse blind....where there is a will there is a way!
I have the same model(which I haven't used yet)
But I also have the Matrix 360 and I've shot my 64" bows out of it.
I just have to be careful.
God bless,Mudd
Yes there is plenty of room as I have shoot a 64" with no problems. I do not understand just set it up in the front room I did as I could not wait when I first got my Double Bull a few years ago. Have to try it out while watching the instructional video.
You can make a bit more room for yourself and bow if you stake out the db. I was shown this last year on an antelope hunt in Wy. By staking it out we elongated the blind by a few inches and it really gave me more room inside with my 62" long bow. This was inside a standard DB, so you will have even more room in your recurve blind.

I've never had any problem out of my dark horse recurve model with my 62"ers..DB
stake it out so you can stretch the base a little...I put my stool up against back wall and with average cant can shoot a 66" Strunk vine maple bow without much issue....limits me to shooting out of window on either side of Poles-X but limbs dont hit. I just have to keep bags against front wall....quiver to my right on rear wall area....and nothing down to my left where lower limb goes. :)
Good luck...this is from DB Matrix 360 Recurve Model...think it is 74".
