This pair of beauties came to me to outfit with leather grips and new 5-line strike plates. The lefty is new and has gorgeous zebrawood veneers. The righty is a well-loved workhorse. They both have some fantastic bird's eye maple in the sight window. Ed does a fantastic job!
As a bonus for all of this, I talked to Ed on the phone for a half hour or so and he should be coming down later this Spring with a bunch of bows! :D
Nice bud! I need a couple of your feather rests! Shawn
Looks great jeremy, I can't wait to get the right hander back from you...it looks great in those pictures. Brian is finally going to shoot that lefty when it arrives back here! Great job!!!.John
I bought a Holcomb from the Classifieds on this site recently and I simply love that bow. It is identical to the right handed bow you show above and it is one fine bow.
I also bought a McDonald '59 reproduction and sent it to John for a bit of refinishing. It's on its way home and I should have it shortly.
I know of the love/lust relationship that some of the members of this blog have with 1959 Bear Kodiaks but I'd rather have one of these reproductions any day of the week.
Yeah, Ed does a great job. I picked up a drake reproduction from him years ago.
Beautiful bows.
Ed does fantastic work.
John....I'll run you a footrace for that leftie ;)
Jeremy, You did a wonderful job on the Holcombs!I can't wait until I get my lefty back. You have added a fine finishing touch to some really beautiful bows. I have another one for you to do if you would like. Thanks, Brian
I Love Ed's Bows!! He is such a nice man and hope to own either the 59'r or a Kodiak Special.
GREAT BOWS,,,,
Does anyone know how to get in touch with Ed?
How much does he sell those 59 repros for?

Beautiful bows.
Ed is a great bowyer and great guy to talk to over the phone.
Very nice bow's.
thanks Ming...beat me to the punch! If any of you out there are contemplating a 59' Kodiak...get one of these, with either the purpleheat or birdseye sight window..they are STELLAR performers, for about $625.00. (MORE FOR THE 59' KODIAK "CHRYSTALITE" version with the zebrawood limbs!). HIS KODIAK SPECIALS ARE TRULLY STUNNING BOWS TO LOOK AT AS WELL...SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL! Thanks jeremy for posting these...you did a great job for Brian and I on these two bows. BTW....ED IS 70 NOW, WHO KNOWS HOW MUCH LONGER HE'LL MAKE BOWS!!! He told me he is working on a few extra's for this years shows, plus, his wait times are usually short...! 1 month(ish).....love my 2....thanks...john
Saw two more of Ed's bows at the sheshequinn shoot, in Trout Run, Pa. yesterday.....great performers!
Landman, I share your opinion of owning a Holcomb 59" repro....I have 3 of them! They have a ton of "snap" to them and Ed Holcomb finishes them with the BEST of them! These are simply fantastic bows.....john
I eventually got around to talking with Ed and man, what a character. A genuinely interesting and talented man and I wish I knew him personally. I'll be ordering another bow from him very shortly.
I will be at Ed's tommorow morning to give him some lessons on the computer !! He will be hooked once he learns to navigate on Trad G.He has been in his shop alot building bows.
Tom, you gonna be able to get a word in edgewise?
Fuzzy is a character, and one of the most talented bowyers I've ever seen. I about peed myself the first time I shot one of his bows at Denton!
Hi Boys, gettin a lesson today on the computer with T.Phillips he is an ok instructor !
Hi Ed, good to see you on here. Lot of talk about your 59'repros, they are real nice for sure. The little Hunter Flight repro you made me is on the same level, super nice!
What timing, I was just wondering about the Drake replicas that Ed makes and now he is here.
Anybody have any pics or more info of those?
Thanks,
BDA
