Title: 3-d shoot, didn't think it could get more additive
Post by: country roads on March 20, 2011, 09:08:00 PM
went on my first 3-d shoot today in crossville tn all trad equip. had a blast broke only 1 arrow, lost 3 nocks and and an insert, trees dont move out of the way. trad shoots dont compare to regular shoots people are more laid back because everyone is on the same playing field nothing fancy just stick and string. btw i shot a 114 it was a 20 target course, not to bad for a first time and considering i just laid my compound down in december.my long bow is just fun to shoot.VERY ADDICTIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it is, and if well laid out, can be excellent hunting practice.

I too, had a great time at a 3D shoot this weekend. Sure is a pleasant break in my normal practise sessions and provides plenty of opportunities to meet old and new friends.

3D's help hilight areas I need to focus on.
If I just focus on shot execution, the outcome is agreeable. Translating to actual hunts provides  ample opportunity to celebrate after the follow thru.

I have been attending tradition bow shoots for several years and find I always have a great time.  I try to make about three local shoots and about three more distant shoots per year.  I would attend more but I have tooooooooo may interests and insufficient time to go around.  I could live to be a 1000 and still not get all I would like to do done and to learn all I would like to know.

You must have a fancy bow if you need additive for it to work

Glad you are enjoying it.

3D shoots are a blast. Seems like my time is getting harder to manage with the kids games and schedules so I don't get to go as much. Shoot them as often as possible you can't get enough practice.  Introduce someone else to 3D as well, friends and family on the course sure makes for a fun day!!

I'm lucky that there is a 3D course a couple of miles from me that is open all year long except deer season. Put $5 in the outside box and go enjoy yourself. I like to shoot alone and take my time and take my shot. He sets up with a lot of up and down shots and across valleys that are really hard to judge the distance.
