Tell me what you think: Ive been using a 175gr field point past few days, and although my arrows are hitting right where Im looking, there is some slight hula hoopin Im seeing when Im out past 20 yards....definitely at 30+. For the heck of it, I screwed on a 200 and then a 250 gr point.....still nailin' the spot....now with NO wobble....straigh as an, well you know! The 250 seemed even better than the 200. So I want to know, was I too light before even with 175 point plus 11 gr insert? I will say, I was at less than 10 gpp with that mix. With the 250 gr point and insert Im at 11! This bow is an ACS, 52# at my draw (28). Im shooting a 29.5" GT 5575. Does this set up with the 250gr point making a 571 gr arrow sound like a reasonable set up? And if it is, should I expect to get the same flight for the most part with my broadhead set up of the same weight?
When your 175gr arrow was in the target was the arrow straight in from the shooting point or was the nock left or right? Did you shoot the 200 and 250 at less than 30 yrds? where you gap shooting at 30yrds or instinctive.Just curious.
When you add more field point weight you weaken the spine of your arrow, so with the 175 gn you were probably a little stiff.
Its a bag target thats got some experience in the middle, so I cant rely on angle-in with it....got get a different type of target. They hit straight on, but sag once they settle. The arrow flight is beautiful tho....straight and heavey feeling. Bow evens sounds better with those 250s. As for the 30 yrd thing, I shoot concideribley farther than that....out to 45 ish. Only instinctive, I dont know how to shoot any other way. I will say at that distance I do see more of the arrow....but I have no gaps figured out. I point and shoot. and when I follow thru I can hit the longer ones. I practice alot long so that the close ones seem easy.
But anyway, just seems like a ton of weight up front compared to what Im used to. Carbons are new to me. I started right off with woodies.

I shoot 50# at 29" my draw,I shoot 35/55 with a 50 grain insert and a 175 grain head.My arrows are cut at 29 3/4" fly like darts.When I shoot 55/75 with same point set up if I doin't get near perfect release I will get the squirrly tail.With the 35/55 I can shoot a wide range of tip weight with clean arrow flight.
i think the 55-75 would be too stiff at that length unless you have a brass insert, so you would be more matched with a 200-250 field point, my 2-cnts.
My specs are in my signature below. I get great arrow flight with 250+ grains up front and 11.5 gpp.

It really goes without saying that if you are getting better arrow flight with heavier point weights than you were with lighter point weights, then you have found a better combination of arrow components. Go with what works. I think 11 gpp is just about perfect for most hunting, and having a higher FOC is definitely a good thing. I often shoot 250 grain point weights or higher.

Bare shaft tune with the same weight with field tips and you will know.
LMNS, you may want to try GT 35/55 with a 50 gr insert and 175 gr points for a 52# bow.
You can certainly add much more weight to the front of a carbon shaft and benefit from it. Forget what it seems like and shoot away. You'll reap advantages of penetration, less bow noise, and down range stability.
It's win win.
I think your set up is good for hunting,maybe a little heavy for 3D.Your 175 grs point made that shaft too stiff,so the 250 point corrected the deflection.As saied try a bareshaft and you'll know what will be the best point to use.i wouldn't change arrow size for hunting.
Put the same weight Broadhead on and shoot it... That will tell you the truth of the matter...
I agree that you need to see how broadheads fly. I have several bows that are from 52# to 55# at 27" and I shoot 55-75s out of all of them; cut to 28.5 with 100 gr brass insert and 260 grain points, total weight 630 grains. 35-55s are way too weak and don't fly well at all for me.
