well finally got the boat out this weekend! still a lil cool but not bad at all. we had a major rain event last week and that allowed us to use the boat and fish a corn field:) it was a ton of fun and im still loving this hoyt excel/ black max combo...its so easy to store when im done shooting and very smooth. its 50# at full draw but soo easy to draw i can shoot all night and it doesnt wear on me.
heres a few pics from the weekend hunt

Nice shooting!! Way to whack those carp! Still way too cold here in Michigan but looking forward to warmer days and getting out myself.
That turtle is awesome. Ive never shot one before but Im thinking about it this year. Did you cook him? I saw a Bizarre Food episode where they were trot lining them and cooking them, said they were yummy. Id also like to keep the shell. The sting ray is awesome too.
yep sure did! and the shell is now my change collector:)
How did you cook the turtle? We have some large snappers around here and I would really like to try one.
we just cut this one into bites or "nuggets". soaked in dales and some hot sauce from a local guy. after about 4 hours we simply baked and fried
Outstanding pics. That setup looks to real efficient. Thanks for taking the time to share with us and the help you've given me! :clapper:
thanks! no problem on the help...glad i could help you!
Whew! When I read the title of your post I thought you had dropped your bow overboard and I knew it wouldn't float...lol
Great pictures!!
Thanks for sharing!
God bless,Mudd
PS: Those turtles are excellent eating!!
yes they are!
Those turtles are on my hit list this summer for sure. Ive caught some really big ones by hand but shooting one with my selfbow is my new summer goal. Wish my Gram was still here. She cooked everything and made it taste good. Except for that 3 legged ancient boar coon I brought home one Thanksgiving day, I still cant get the taste out of my mouth 20 years later.
I am definitely going to give the bow fishing a try this year. Anyone know about when is a good time here in SW Missouri...I'm real close to Stockton lake and Truman.
Thanks for the pics and the inspiration.
go for it!! you will love it!
Well now you have my blood boiling... can't wait to chase those scaly buggers... and the non scaly ones... Shark trip and stingrays in June!!!
stingrays are a bunch of fun! put up an awesome fight.
Izzy,
I put many hours in looking for turtles last summer. The only ones I saw were out of range
Seems like they are everywhere when you are not looking for them. I saw one crossing the road and there was a lady helping it across. I had thought about telling I would "take it from here" but thought better of it.
I would like to try for a ray some time.
Great Pics.
Congrats on some fine trophies sir! Looks like a great time.
And that turtle sounds delicious!
thanks guys!
Carbonkiller, looks like a ton of fun! Can't wait for soft water to show up again around here.
Izzy, you and Charlie come on over and we'll do some bowfishing and get you a whopper turtle or two. I usually see a few a night. Tyler is always wanting to shoot one and I tell him I'm not taking it off the arrow.
Also, we need to plan a weekend for rays down at Chincoteague. I've got a really nice waterfront condo we can stay at for free.
