Title: Question about "arrow spine"
Post by: treetoppredator on March 14, 2011, 07:16:00 AM
Specs:  -50-55 # draw weight
       -28in. draw
       -easton axis 500's (8.?)gpi,
       (cut to 29in.)

I was wondering if I could shoot a 190-200 grain broadhead with the above poundage and arrows?

At closer to the 50# weight yes, but as you get closer to the 55# weight you could have a weak spine issue, you may have to go to a 400 spine? 28" draw equates to a 28 1/2"--29" arrow length!

Check Stu's calculator, it will answer your questions better than we can by only speculation. The calculator does not lie.

Ordered some beman classic mfx in the 400 spine and some 190 grain simmons treesharks! I figure I'll have to fiddle with the arrow length a little to get it just right.

Sounds like my set-up plus 1/2" on arrow length and 175's shot great

Those should work. My 55#er shoots 400s well with 200 up front.
