when they are available to purchase I'm thinking about maybe springing for a pair, any comments about them ????
What is Kuiu attack pants lol. Is that before or after you wear them lol. Sorry no disrespect.
Did you read the kuiu blog or Guru's post about them?
http://kuiu.wordpress.com/2011/02/14/kuiu-attack-pant-review/
i plan on getting some...
Price range?
Right at the bottom of the review...$139.00 :)
$139 was wholesale, retail is $249. Way out of my price range for a pair of trousers. They do look like they would be comfortable though.
Waaay too much for me to fork over for a pair of pants!
The wholesale price is the retail price to us...read the whole post guys...
he is only selling his product direct..no retail stores or middle people..

Looks like an awesome product that may make it to my list of must haves. I'll be keeping my eyes on the blog for reviews after this pre sale is over. The camo pattern is not good for where I hunt but I could use it on out of state hunts.

Thanks, Randy. I was just about to log off and head out the door when I saw this thread...didn't read all the way to the bottom! :readit:
:scared: $250??
I'll stick with Walls or wool.

Im planning on buying a gray pair. The wool underwear are also very competitively priced. They are satisfaction guaranteed.

PRICE IS NOT $250; it is $139.00.
He only listed the wholesale price as a marketing ploy to allude to the amount you are "saving" by purchasing his product direct from him.
From the responses to this thread, I'd say it may have been a marketing backfire.
......but will they make my butt look big?

Ok, $140 then. Still extremely steep for a pair of britches. I could have a million dollars in the bank and I still wouldn't drop $140 on a pair of hunting pants. Particularly when one can get Gore-Tex or wool for about half the price.

...only if your butt IS big! :D
Value is subjective. Some prefer wine, while others prefer beer.
I was simply clarifying the price discrepancy. I am also not affiliated with Kuiu, nor do I plan to purchase any of their clothing in the near future.
Yep, still waaaay too much. How did Fred Bear ever hunt without this stuff? :D
I tend to pay a bit more for my hunting clothes and they last me longer. I used to get whatever was cheapest (because that's all I could wring outta my budget), and they tended to wear out. Pays yo money, takes you choice!

One word. Carhartt. http://www.carhartt.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10101&storeId=10051&productId=125820&langId=-1&categoryId=10935
Carhartt makes great stuff! Is it quiet?
All I can say fellas, is you get what you pay for...
Have you guys that say it's too much even bothered to read about them?
Have you seen them, felt them, or wore them?
I understand that some will never be willing to pay for quality clothing when they can go to Walmart and buy a twenty dollar pair of pants.
Same as a guy that buys a $50 pair of bino's then looks thru a $1000 pair of Leica's and says he can't see the difference...
For guys that appreciate the highest quality materials, research, and manufacturing in hunting clothing industy...
The guys that have gone the cheapest route, then realized thru trial and error, there is something better out there...
You are the one's that will appreciate this clothing, and everything Jason has done to bring it to us at such a reasonable price!
I'm not trying to say that these Kuiu britches aren't good. They are probably great, however, the price tag sort of reminds me of looking at the shelves full of Bass fishing gear at Cabela's. Half of the stuff is gimmicky and overpriced, overhyped in an attempt to reel in the fishermen.
These Carhartt garments are only as quiet as the hunter wearing them. If silence is the absolute goal, I like to use wool---even in the warm months. Or a kilt and knee-high moccasins, of course. http://www.needlepimp.com/
If you could prioritize all of your gear and the impact it has on having a good hunt (let's assume mountain hunting of at least a week's duration because that is what Kuiu was made for) we would all most likely put our clothing towards the top of that list, because if we're wet, cold, sweaty, hot or anywhere outside of that miniscule space we modern day softies call a comfort zone, we're not happy. Our beautiful custom bows costing hundreds of dollars would actually fall somewhere nearer the bottom of the list. So I think it stands to reason that money spent on quality clothes is money well spent, and if I can drop $850 on my new bow, I can spend $140 on pants. I'm going with Kuiu.
Softshell is something ya'll should try on at some point in time. I wish the army would switch to it for some of the items. It lasts longer, stays warmer, breaths better, is more quiet then our nyco uniforms. It's not water proof so don't compare apples to oranges, but it is water resistant.
Also when you look at this gear you have to compare it to other high quality hunting gear. Sitka, Gray Wolf Woolens or if you would rather compare a Samick Hawkeye to a BlackWidow PMA 3. It's all relative to what it's competing market is. These are a high quality, somewhat high tech modern fiber. Similar softshell products I've seen run around $300-400 for a pair of trousers and those aren't even designed for hunting.
I do believe when I get the money I will buy a set. Got to plan on getting over to at least Bulgaria or the Romanian Carpathians while I'm a poor soldier stationed in Germany.
I switched to traditional style to get away from
that high-tech money costing stuff....................
Good luck to you Blake, Romania is a beautiful country and was once at the top of my list as far as foreign hunts go.

Guru,
I like the ideas and the business model. When is it avaiable for sale. I think that was the original question....
Jeff
PS ... Guru, a disclosure would be helpful. Besides being a field tester, do you benefit monetarily by promoting the stuff?
I want to know how quiet it is. Quieter than Sitka I hope.
Way too much $ for this guy. I've killed a bunch of game wearing $30 Carharts, and I think I'll stick with them. I doubt $250 pants will make you a better hunter. JMO

It'll be available for the folks that subscribed to the KUIU blog for a special pre-order very soon.
Then I believe around April 1st for the official launch, and ordering to begin for everyone else.
No man, I don't get paid, that's funny...just support people and products I believe in.
Someone above asked about quietness...yes!

Don't knock it til you try it. :bigsmyl:
:biglaugh:  Seems like a kilt for hunting would be an 'open' invitation for ticks, fire ants, chiggers...and a bit, ummmm.....drafty!
