As many know, I have for some years maintained the Howard Hill Longbowmen web site and email group.
Unfortunately, I have had to discontinue the site and email list. I couldn't keep up with the work and expense of the various sites I run and had to cut back. If you had the site bookmarked, I'm sorry, but it isn't there any more. The guys replaced the email list with a new Yahoo called Classic Longbowmen. They can be found in Yahoo Groups.
The site contained a great deal of good Hill information. That material will not be lost. It is saved and I will be cleaning it up and either adding it as a section in my personal archery site or offering it as a PDF file.
Unfortunately, that will be a little ways off though, as I had a computer crash and am having to restructure and learn new web programming and technology. My Dreamweaver web handling program was ten years old. I've ordered a new version and I'm sure I'll be faced with many changes I'll have to learn before I'm back up to speed.
Thanks for all your hard work in the past Dick. It was very much appreciated! :clapper:

Thanks again Dick.
Thanks Dick, your work was highley appreciated, even in The Netherlands!
I was a real new comer to your site Dick but enjoyed it for the time I was able to be there.
Thank you for all your efforts in every thing you do to promote our sport.
God bless,Mudd
Dick, thanks for all the wonderful help your efforts gave. I spent a lot of time there when I was getting into Hills.
Captain, Could you just keep the site "as is" with the pages and just discontinue the e-mail group? ...sorry to see it go
Dick, Thank you for the wonderful website while it was up. I, like many others, will be glad to see when some of it will be on your site or in PDF. Best of luck with the switch over.
Thanks Dick for all the hard work. I really enjoyed the site.
Dick,
Thank you! There is a wealth of information on that site and you were instrumental in its maintenance and upkeep. I truly enjoyed the site.
Captain,
I loved that site and am sorry to see it go.
But, thank you so much for having created and maintained the site for so long.
Many thanks!
Matt
Salute! God Bless you and yours!
Your the real deal Dick, thank you for all you have done.
You've done a lot for trad archery. We (you & me) kicked around my 1st 82# Hill. I still have it. Much obliged friend in your continued success. b
Dick -
Thanks for all that you have done to promote our great Hill bows and keep the legend of Howard Hill alive on our PC, in our hearts and on our minds. Your site a had a vast array of information and I for one am truly sorry that it had to go by the way side. Hope the information will be available soon as I referred to it many times. Thanks again, :wavey:

X2 on that one!!
Sorry to see it go but thanks for your hard work. Hey - maybe you can dump all the info in our epic HH Bug thread. :D
Dick,
Many thanks for the many hours spent on your/our effort. Your time is greatly appreciated. Couldn't guess how many times I visited, but there was a wealth of information there to be gained.
Thank you very much sir.
Dick - Thanks for all your work on that site. I spent a lot of time there looking at all the examples of Hill bows whenever I was in the planning stages of my next bow build.
Thanks,
John
Mahalo, Captain, for all you do to promote the Hill style, and thank you for personally helping me as I prepare for my first Hill style build.
Thanks, guys... Don't despair, I really will get that info back up. How long will depend on my learning curve with the new Dreamweaver.
Itook the one hour personal tutorial on iWeb, thinking that maybe one of the newer template based programs could let me get things going faster. I found it interesting, but not practical for me. I have something over 700 pages of web material on sites I manage. iWeb wouldn't transfer them and keep the formats, and rebuilding it all in iWeb just isn't practical... I'm already 73!
It'll be back up when I can get to it, maybe after I get another bow built. I'll need to clear my head after all this computer stuff is sorted out. I'll make an announcement when it happens.
All those who love the HH Longbow appreciate your work .
thanx for your deadicated effort hope to see you in nw ca at a3d ill buy you another beer
Dick, I commend you on all that responsibility and the hard work you put into it. Thank You :notworthy:
thanks Dick!
maybe we can get a tag on here for all the info you have on the hill stuff? Terry?
dick, you have a pm ............
Did you take all the info down...or is the site just not live?
terry, the site is gone. i've pm'd dick to offer help ....
All the info is lost forever????
Dick here's a link to the HTML Writers Guild (http://www.hwg.org/) I took an on-line course many years ago from them and it was great! no need to leave the house! they also have Dreamweaver listed...check em out
Once again, Captain, my personal thanks and appreciation for all your guidance, expertise and never ending energy.
Thanks Rob and Terry for looking into it!
Rob... thanks so much for the generous offer, and I appreciate everyone's concern. The information is not lost! The site is saved and triple backed. I expect a new current copy of Dreamweaver to arrive here tomorrow. I will need to get myself up to speed with the changes and will then be reworking my sites.
I'm sorry to say that my first priority has to be the 2000 subscribers to my sewing machine site/list. I was in the midst of a review/remodel on that site when disaster struck. However, as quickly as I can get to it, I will get to re-doing my personal site (which has become primarily archery anyway) and folding the Hill files into it.
I have already identified those files that are specifically Howard Hill and/or Hill bow related and those that were more oriented toward the group's activities, so the important material is sitting there waiting for me.
I'll post an announcement when I get the information back up. Obviously, it will have a new address.
Please be patient with me...it'll take a little bit of time ... especially with Moses Lake coming up! :)
Thanks so much Dick for blessing us with the site and all the info!
I hope you will soon get the new site back up and going as the old one was such a wealth of information.
A lot of us that were on Dick's HHL email list have migrated to the new Classic Longbowmen group on yahoo. We get pretty much the same great email group, and a few more features to keep the old HHL group intact. We went with the Classic Longbowmen name to help folks feel more comfortable about joining, if they own or desire to own a "Hill style" bow...... but not necessarily a Howard Hill bow.
I hope this is appropriate, and not offensive to the moderators here:
But anyone that was a member of the old list and missed the link we sent, or someone new wanting to join the new Classic Longbowmen group can PM me for the direct link there......
THANKS AGAIN CAPT'N!!
Cap'n, thanks for all of the time and effort you put into the site over the years. As a subscriber, I read almost every post, but posted little. I'm sure all of us appreciated the list and site. I was out of town when the site went down and came home to find a TON of posts. Hope all goes well and I'll look forward to the info when it's available.
HNH, sent ya a PM.
Kevin
Dick thanks for yr honest comments based on yr
very big experience. We need guy like you.
Captain Dick, Thank you for all you shared. The site was one of my favorites. The Osage HH classic I got from you is now named "The Captain" in your honor. Alex
Thanks Dick :wavey:
Thanks Dick, for all the work you have done, and will do! I don't have a HH bow yet, but I will eventually, and your site is what gave me the bug.
RonP
You're a good, Dick. Thanks for your efforts.
