morning gang, In my current status of bein laid up I have sharpened every pointy thing in the house. I found a couple of tips that may help some guys havin problems. On 3 blades woodsman and snuffers, I found using a 12" and 8" file together seem to work better. I use the 12 to start with going across the blades back to front then the 8" LIGHTLY in the same way. I have gotten both heads incredibly sharp. For the guys wanting to try simmons sharks I bought a 6" tri file. It is the ticket for working concave heads the narrow design of the file fits perfectly in the gap on those heads.
Tell the family everything is sharp if it has been awhile. LOL
Thanks for the information, will have to try that on the Simmons Sharks.
I think Alaskan Bowhunting Supply and Centaur have sharpening videos on the wheel systems that are good.Centaur uses 1/2 inch(compared to 5/8 inch) wheels to sharpen his concave heads with single or double bevel 2 blades and knives.
Using good light and magnification you can actually SEE a fine sharp edge vs. a rough dull or damaged rounded dull edge. The fly fishing shops sell good light/mag units for reasonable dollars.
Search Sharpster for demo lessons as he is the master.
