Title: Fastest drying arrow sealer?
Post by: snag on March 09, 2011, 04:22:00 PM
I was asked by a friend, who wants to put on an arrow building seminar outside, what would be the fastest drying sealant for making arrows...? Would a polyurathane like Minwax do it? Would it be better to spray them or dip them?
Thanks, David

Raptor dip dries pretty fast; but a spray of any type will usually be even faster.

I'd have to say gasket lacquer.
You can put four coats on one right after the other, wait a half hour to glue on nocks, wait another hour and start fletching.
A little bit longer cure time would be better but those will work in a pinch.

Gasket Lacquer dries fast enough that when you finish applying a coat to the twelfth of a dozen you can grab number one and start again. I don't know how long it takes four coats to dry, but it's shorter than overnight because they are dry then.
